Petition to Realign Regional Election Districts Approved

The District's Petition to Realign Regional Election Districts was approved by the Court of Common Pleas of Chester County on August 1, 2016. The new regional election districts will take effect in 2017.

On April 25, 2016, the Tredyffrin/Easttown Board of School Directors adopted a Resolution authorizing the filing of the Petition to realign the regional election districts in the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District to address changes in population that have resulted in disparity among the currently structured voting regions. The resolution adopted a plan recommended to the School Board by the Ad Hoc School Board Region Reapportionment Committee. The plan, which was developed through several months of careful study and significant community input, will realign the District's voting regions in a way that reduces population disparity among regions and is consistent with the statutory requirements contained in the Public School Code regarding electoral boundaries and population equity.

Chester County will notify voters of the new regional election districts. Click here for a rough map of the new regions.

Reminder: PA School Bus Stopping Law

As the start of the school year approaches, the T/E School District reminds community members about the importance of following the Pennsylvania School Bus Stopping Law to help keep students safe.

Pennsylvania's School Bus Stopping Law:
  • Motorists must stop at least 10 feet away from school buses that have their red lights flashing and stop arm extended.
  • Motorists must stop when they are behind the bus, meeting the bus or approaching an intersection where a bus is stopped.
  • Motorists following or traveling alongside a school bus must also stop until the red lights have stopped flashing, the stop arm is withdrawn, and all children have reached safety.
  • If physical barriers such as grassy medians, guide rails or concrete median barriers separate oncoming traffic from the bus, motorists in the opposing lanes may proceed without stopping.
  • Do not proceed until all the children have reached a place of safety.
  • The penalties if convicted of violating Pennsylvania“s School Bus Stopping Law include all of the following:
    • $250 fine
    • Five points on your driving record
    • 60-day license suspension
Individuals who witness a motorist breaking the Pennsylvania School Bus Stopping Law should obtain the car's license plate and a physical description of the driver prior to contacting the local police.

If in doubt, STOP!
