$20K Winner Announced!

Javier Barrera

Javier Barrera with Latino Youth Collective won the $20,000 award at the opening night event, $20K: A Competition About Race. His project, Race: A Look Inside, will create a comprehensive educational kit about race that will include a documentary created by multicultural filmmakers, public screenings with trained facilitators, and an interactive website for continued public sharing and dialogue. Javier writes, "By touching on topics often ignored we hope the documentary will spark and ignite deep and thoughtful conversations by challenging viewers to be self-critical. We believe there is no culture of self-improvement without self-reflection."

Thanks to our $20K partners: The Scott A. Jones Foundation, Indianapolis Museum of Art, KI NuMedia, and Race and Cultural Relations Leadership Network, a standing committee of the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee.
