Greetings!

The plans for next year are coming together, and at the board meeting this week, the board made several key decisions. We will be purchasing two new liquid propane buses to provide student transportation, along with one used diesel bus as backup. We'll also be adding both special education and high school teaching positions.
As we continue to grow, the board has also decided to add an Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning. This second administrator will help provide teachers with additional instructional support, mentoring, professional growth and evaluation.
CVA continues to grow and mature, and it's never been more obvious than it was this week. Thanks to all of you for helping to make it happen!
Enjoy a relaxing spring break!
Dave

State MCA Testing
Every year, Cyber Village Academy, like all public schools in the state, must participate in the state MCA tests for reading, math, and science. These tests are very important and help the Minnesota Department of Education gauge both student and school performance across the state.
Because all state MCA tests are now taken online rather than in paper and pencil test format, we must use the computer lab for students to test. For this reason, we hold our MCA testing sessions on Thursdays and Fridays. It is mandatory that students take these tests, so please make every effort to bring your student to the school on their scheduled date and time.
If you need to make alternative arrangements,
please contact Melissa O-R
at 651-523-7170 ext. 100 as soon as possible to schedule a makeup testing time.
Students in grades 3 though 8 will be testing in groups by last name. High school students will test separately,
and
9
th grade students have no scheduled tests to take.

Music classroom topics for April

Compositions are the project of the month for Music Performance, and the students are getting solid mastery of their parts in a 3-part harmony piece.  Yeah!
Music Appreciation is completing a whirlwind tour of the history of Western music and will turn to Music in Society after break.  K-4 is studying  pitch and rhythm notation; K-3 playing more on classroom Orff instruments and 4th
graders will begin playing the recorder after spring break.
Field Trip for Kindergarten - Grade 3
The K-3 classes are going on a Friday field trip to the  Oliver Kelley Farm on April 15 from 1-3.  The opportunity is available to all K-3 families.  The cost is $6 per person to be paid directly to the farm. CVA will not be collecting money for this field trip.
Children 3 years and younger are free.
Our program will cover:

This multi-sensory program gives students a chance to explore a real working farm. Learn first-hand what farmers do, where food comes from and why animals live on a farm.
and

1860S FARM: THEN AND NOW

Discover what life was like on the farm and compare it to life today. Through a variety of farm and domestic chores, students learn how each family member contributed to the farm's success.
Arrive early or stay late to hike around the  nature trails!  Just be sure to meet us promptly at 1:00 so you don't miss the tour!
Since it is an online day, parents must provide transportation.
Please email Christy your RSVP by Wednesday, March 30 with how many adults, how many students and how many children 3 and under will be in your group.  We hope you are able to join us!
