Our Mission
| |
Cyber Village Academy prepares students to meet the challenge of a rapidly changing world with confidence by helping them to become
inquiring, knowledgeable, caring and active citizens who value academic rigor, integrity, self reliance and compassion.
|
Dress Code Policy
|
As the weather gets warmer, please remember that shorts and skirts must extend at least beyond the student's fingertips when the student's arms are relaxed at the side. Sagging pants and exposed underwear are not allowed. Tank tops must be cut generously: no plunging necklines, spaghetti straps or revealing midriffs. These rules apply at all times of day here at school, including recess and lunch. See page 26 of the Student/Parent Handbook for more information. Thanks for your cooperation!
|
|
|
The 2015-16 school calendar has been adopted by the board and is available here. There will be additional details as our plans for next year progress, but the overall calendar is complete and finalized.

Soda pop and energy drinks are not permitted any time during the day. Please also refrain from bringing in glass containers. See page 38 of the Student/Parent Handbook for more information. Thanks for your cooperation!

Scent Free Policy Reminder
|
Some of our students and staff members may have allergies or otherwise be sensitive to perfumes, colognes and other strong odors. For this reason, we ask that students, parents and staff refrain from using or wearing such products on campus.
Thank you!

, Bill Gates has said, "Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is the most important." I see this every day at school; the relationships and energy our teachers bring to the classroom is a treat to watch. This enthusiasm and genuine love of the work are also critical criteria for hiring new staff members. We're in the midst of hiring several new teachers to meet the needs of our growing school. Some interviewees look good on paper, but put the interview team to sleep. Others have an infectious enthusiasm that you know will get the most reluctant learners excited about being in their classroom. This energy is far more important than any technical knowledge. Technology skills, teaching skills, policies and practices can be provided in training. Energy, enthusiasm, commitment. Those things can't be trained into someone. When the hiring is done, I look forward to introducing our exciting new staff members to the community. I am very confident we will bring people on board that will continue and enhance that positive energy we have here at CVA! -DaveGlick

A huge THANK YOU to all Cyber Village students and families for making MCA testing this school year a success! These tests are important benchmarks for students, our school, and the state of Minnesota. We really appreciate the time and effort that families put in to bringing their students in to complete their required state MCA tests.
If you were not able to come in at your scheduled time, you can still make-up your test! There will be additional make-up testing times on Friday, May 1st, at 8:30 am and 12:30 pm. Please contact Melissa to arrange any additional make-up testing. Thank you!

Cyber Village Academy will be offering online summer learning opportunities to CVA students in Grades 3-12. This is an optional, fee-based program designed to help students fill in gaps in their learning, prepare more thoroughly for next year, or accelerate the progress. This opportunity is available to all new and returning CVA students, as well as those who attended CVA this year but are choosing not to return in the fall.
High school and middle school math, language arts, science and social studies classes that are taught during the school year are available through this program. Classes will be taught by regular CVA teachers, in most cases using the same curriculum, Odysseyware, that we use with our PASCAL students during the school year.
Student can sign up for semester classes and/or for access to ALEKS, our online math tool, and Lexia, our online reading tool. High school Spanish classes will also be available. For Spanish for Grades 5-8, Moodle courses with all written and interactive resources will be available but with minimal teacher interaction.
All courses are fully online, and Study Center is not available. Teachers are available via email, for phone appointments, and may be available for face-to-face meetings by appointment.
Tuition for a full semester online course is $357. Access to ALEKS and Lexia is $50 each for the entire summer.
Registration forms and payment are due to the CVA office by May 13. Contact Melissa with any questions.
