Our Mission
| |
Cyber Village Academy prepares students to meet the challenge of a rapidly changing world with confidence by helping them to become
inquiring, knowledgeable, caring and active citizens who value academic rigor, integrity, self reliance and compassion.
|
|
The 2015-16 school calendar has been adopted by the board and is available here. There will be additional details as our plans for next year progress, but the overall calendar is complete and finalized.

Dress Code Policy
|
As the weather gets warmer, please remember that shorts and skirts must extend at least beyond the student's fingertips when the student's arms are relaxed at the side. Sagging pants and exposed underwear are not allowed. Tank tops must be cut generously: no plunging necklines, spaghetti straps or revealing midriffs. These rules apply at all times of day here at school, including recess and lunch. See page 26 of the Student/Parent Handbook for more information. Thanks for your cooperation!
|
|
|
Flu season is almost upon us! If it suits you medically, please consider getting a flu shot to keep you and those around you healthy! Usually, your corner drug store can do that for you.
|
|
|
CVA
encourages students to use refillable water bottles and refill it as necessary throughout the day. Drinks other than water are not allowed in class. Soda pop and energy drinks are not permitted any time during the day. Please also refrain from bringing in glass containers. See page 38 of the Student/Parent Handbook for more information. Thanks for your cooperation!

, While the usual and excellent work of teaching & learning continues in CVA's classrooms, several of us are already working behind the scenes to prepare for next year. The budget and daily schedule are coming together, our facilities planning is well under way, and just after spring break, we'll be posting the job openings related to our grade expansion and growing numbers. This is the time of year when I'm working on two school years simultaneously! Although nothing is final, here's a taste of a few things to look forward to for next year: - Grades K-8 will have PE every day.
- All grades K-12 will have Spanish.
- Miss Christy will be teaching K-1 and Amanda will be teaching Grades 2-3.
- We'll be enhancing our tech classes and adding high school science and social studies classes.
- Two remodeling projects will increase our high school capacity and make room for an additional office person.
Several grade levels are at or approaching capacity for next year, but we still have plenty of room in the K-1 and 2-3 classrooms. If you know anybody who might be interested, send them our way! Thanks! -Dave Glick

The classes will take place after school starting April 7th. You may also sign up for behind the wheel through A+. π Day of the Century!!
This year we celebrate Pi Day of the Century: 3-14-15 @ 9:26:56 AM
This is a poem written by Andrew T, 7th Grade
Three and a seventh will not do. Twenty-two sevenths-same for you! The square root of ten isn't equal to pi. Two square root plus two-goodbye! Two square root over ten plus three- That is closer, but it's not meant to be! Pi's digits are over 12,001. Memorizing them is hard but fun! You memorize ten digits-not enough! You do forty more-now this gets tough! Pi doesn't ever go into a pattern. It's digits written out go way past Saturn! I wrote this song to honor pi: 3.14159!

If you're interested come to an informational meeting on Monday at 3:35 in Coach Kildahl's room in the basement. Grades 6 & up are welcome - and staff too! We'll go over expectations, time commitments, running, training, safety, and - if there's time - how to make your hair look awesome during and after a run (a subject at which Coach K is an expert).

Community and Service - Spotlight on 10th Grade
The 10th grade advisory has been hard at work performing services within their communities. Each student has chosen a volunteer opportunity where they will perform, document, and present on the meaningful work they have dedicated to bettering their community.
The 10th grade advisory has been successful at finding a wide variety of ways to help out, from helping a neighbor shovel snow, helping at church or youth events, to signing up with a large not-for-profit organization. One student has been volunteering with an organization called CLUES where she teaches English to young English Language Learners, another student is fostering animals through the Humane Society, and several students are working with an organization called Feed My Starving Children where they help prepare and deliver food to people in need. This project has even inspired students to brainstorm ideas for our advisory to go further by collecting donations and brainstorming ways our advisory can volunteer together as a shared experience. All of this hard work will be evident at the CVA Community and Service Fair.
Great job, sophomores - you are making a difference!!
