Greetings!

Numbers! They're everywhere! Here's a few that are on my mind this morning:

3.14. Yesterday was Pi Day, March 14! To celebrate we had pizza day and pies on Wednesday, and students discussed its significance and listened to a pi song in math class. Good fun, and pi is well worth the honor!

168. Students already enrolled for next year. Based on past trends, we expect to open in the fall with about 180 students, 35 more than our 2012 opening number.

25. CVA is committed to a maximum class size of 25.

14. Students already signed up for our new Grades 2-3 multi-age class next year.

$1.4 million. Approximately, the school's annual budget.

Priceless: Our staff, students and families that truly make CVA what it is. Thanks everyone!

Parent Group Update

We had a good turn out (5 of us) for our first meeting, March 11, especially with such short notice.  A lot was accomplished--deciding to help with/sponsor:

- Book Fairs

- Spring Clean Up & Beautify (May 11)

- Movie Nights (next one March 22)

- Family Fun Night (date to be determined)

- Parent Tutors (a survey will go out to determine interest in this first)

If you can't attend the meetings, but would still like to be involved you can stay informed by visiting the Parent Group website.  For a link to the website, click here.

Go there now and give us your input for the Family Fun Day (Events > Family Fun Day)!  Read notes about the meetings (Minutes).  Sign-up to be on our email list (Contact page > Email) or give us an idea of what you'd like to help with (Contact page > Volunteer).

Please join us when you can.  We don't have childcare, but if you have other children and think they would be okay hanging out, feel free to bring them.

Next Meeting: Monday March 18

Other Dates:  April 8 & 22, May 6 & 20

Where: Room 214

Time: 8:15 - 9:00 a.m.

If you have any questions or want to talk more about the Parent Group please call me at 651.739.5006 or send an email to our new parent group email at cvaParentGroup@gmail.com .

Science is in need of 12 twelve ounce Styrofoam cups for a lab next week. If you have any available, please send them on Monday for our lab on Tuesday!

We also are in need of rat/turtle food and a filter for the turtle's water.

Thank you!

Parent Tutoring Program

Calling all parents! We are interested in offering a tutoring program at CVA on study center days (Thursdays and Fridays). Are you interested in participating? Tutoring will take place in 2 hour blocks in the morning, from 9-11 am, and in the afternoon from 1-3 pm. During this time, you can either drop your child off for tutoring by another parent, or you can stay to tutor children in the same grade(s) as your child(ren).

Please take a few minutes to complete our brief (6 question!) survey. This will help us to determine the level of interest in the program.  To take the survey, click here.

Thanks,
