Greetings!

We need your help! As you know, CVA is expanding to include Grade 2 next year and Kindergarten and Grade 1 the year after that. Regardless of the age of your own children, we're asking that you please take 3 minutes to fill out a survey available here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/grade-expansion. There are just three simple questions:

1. When your current CVA students were younger, would you have considered enrolling them in CVA's program in Kindergarten, Grade 1 or Grade 2 if we would have had it at that time?

2. Do you have any children who will be starting Grade 2, 3 or 4 at any school in the fall of 2013? If so, how many?

3. Do you have any children who will be starting Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3 or 4 at any school in the fall of 2014? If so, how many?

We'll use this data to bolster our understanding of the level of interest for the CVA early grades.

Please continue to spread the CVA word! Thanks very much!

After School Pick-up

Please pick up your students at the end of the day by 3:45. If students have not been picked up by 4:00, we will ask them to go to the after-school program until a parent/guardian arrives. The after-school program is fee-based, and the daily rate is $10. Thank you for your cooperation!

Re-Enrollment Time

For families whose children will be returning to CVA next year, our reenrollment window is now open.  Current families have preference for next year's placement, and siblings have priority over new families.

Enrollment will be open to the public via lottery on March 1st for any spots still unfilled by current CVA families. Enrollment forms have been placed in student mailboxes, or you can download and print the form by clicking here

Enrollment forms should be returned to Melissa in the front office.  We look forward to working with your family again in the coming school year!

History Day Memo

Judges Needed!

If you are interested in volunteering to be a History Day Judge, please contact Mrs. Koenen.

CVA History Day is February 26 this year from 2:45-4:00 PM in the gym for parents and family friends. We are looking for
judges who will work in teams to judge approximately 5 projects per team.

Judges will meet in Mrs. Koenen's classroom at 2:00. She will provide judging sheets and walk through the judging process with the judges prior to the start of the event at 2:45. Judges should be prepared to enjoy the students' presentations! Judges will then meet with Mrs. Koenen at the end of the event at 4:00 in her classroom to discuss findings as a group. These findings are critical to determine which students will go on to regionals.

Energy Tip of the Week

brought to you by the CVA Student Council/Eco Team

Insulate around windows and doors. Weather-strip and/or caulk all areas of noticeable leaks around windows and doors. Removable caulking is a good option for windows that you open in summer but not in winter.

Concordia Language Villages

Optional Overnight Field Trip

Our 2nd trip to The Forest is coming up on March 14th and 15th. This optional field trip is open to all students who are studying Spanish from level 1 through high school. We will experience two days of Spanish immersion while participating in crafts, games, sports, song and dance, cooking, authentic meals and many other exciting activities. Permission slips have been placed in student boxes. A current health form is also necessary, even if your student has gone before this year.  The total cost of the program, room and board for the 2 days is $70 per student. If your family has financial need but would still like to participate, please contact Lauren Odle about scholarships.  Permission slips need to be returned to her with payment by February 13th.
