Globe in Hands

Greetings!

What a great Spaghetti Dinner last night! Oodles of noodles, plenty of people, delicious desserts - and a successful fundraiser for CVA! What more could you ask for? We made over $2000 for the Grade 8 Eagle Bluff trip! Thanks to everyone who attended and helped out. It was great to see so many of you; I particularly enjoyed seeing all the grandparents and siblings of age ranges that we don't get to see as often - and our eighth graders so dressed up! Wow!

Two more upcoming fundraisers - and one costs you absolutely nothing! The first is Give to the Max day on November 15, a statewide event involving hundreds of non-profits. Go to GiveMN.org and search for "Cyber Village Academy" or click on this link . There is the possibility of CVA winning matching grants with enough participation. Minimum donation is just $10, and you can schedule your donation now for the big day.

The second is a grant proposal. We need you simply to vote via online link AND text, twice each day, from November 5 (Monday) until December 12. The grant of up to $50,000 is from Clorox, and we're waiting on some specific information from them. We'll be posting the voting information on the website and on the Facebook group next week.

Thanks to all for all your support!

Science Fair!

Science fair is coming and we need judges! Please contact Mrs. Mann if you are interested in being a Science Fair judge between 12 pm and 3 pm on Tuesday, November 13th.

Lice

CVA Parents: A case of head lice has been reported by a CVA family. The student was treated during the MEA week and should not have come in to contact with other CVA students or staff during that time. However, please take precautions and check your students to ensure that lice do not spread. For more information, click here.

Science Pets

Do you love pets? Our science classroom has five of them! If you would like to donate to help keep our critters healthy and happy we are looking for...

  •  Rats: rat food, treats, bedding , "igloos," large rat ball
  •  Leopard Gecko: mealworms, crickets, calcium powder
  •  Turtles: food, water treatment liquid, treats
Send the donated items with your student to drop off in the Science classroom. Our critters appreciate it!

Scholastic Book Orders

Book order forms will be in student mailboxes next week.  Book orders are due Wednesday, November 28.  If you're ordering books as a gift to your child(ren), please attach a note.  We will contact you directly when the order comes in instead of handing the books to your student at school.

Washington DC Meeting

There will be a meeting for families of students going to Washington D.C. on Monday, November 5 at 4:00 in room 217 (Robyn's Classroom).  If you are still interested in going on the trip, but haven't signed up yet, please free to attend the meeting as well.

Fidgety Fairy Tales

Once upon a time, familiar fairy tales were re-imagined to show positive portrayals of children with mental health disorders to raise awareness and reduce stigma! These original hour-long musical theatre productions are performed by a talented cast of actors ages 9 - 18 both with and without mental health disorders.
