Allure Spa
March 2014
Greetings!

March is finally upon us! As I reflect on the past, three, long months, I think of the terrible weather conditions that this winter presented to us.  This winter astonished us with unceasing snow storms, tumultuous commuting conditions, and bitter, freezing cold temperatures that persisted in our bones. Although the snow, ice and strong rushes of winds continued throughout the North East region into late February, we know as New Englanders that there is indeed hope, and  that spring is coming. Soon we will see the last of the snow melt away as Mother Nature brings about that warm spring air we are all yearning for. As our bodies thaw, we will look up to the sun and say goodbye to the fierce cold of February and welcome the soft warmth that peeks through the clouds in March.

Spring has always been my favorite of New England's four seasons. Upon moving to New England from Trinidad over 25 years ago, I witnessed the most natural beauty that God has given us: the gift of life. Spring represents that new life that we share as people and as we observe in our land and as well as the nature and animals in which we exist together. The simplicity of a crocus flower being birthed through it's soil, is so uniquely beautiful and symbolic.

Although the air is still cold and snow is on the ground, I rest assured that spring is around the corner as the sound of birds chirping starts to reappear in the mornings. Their sharp utter seems to welcome their families returning from another region or coming out of their slumber.  Every year I look forward to those beautiful birds, that remain with me through both spring and summer and are coming home to their nests.

I am very excited to share that I, myself, will be welcoming a few of our staff members back to our nest here at Allure that have been away from us for some time!

Julianne, who has been a long time employee at Allure Spa will be home from her one month trip from Hawaii. Julianne has always been that smiling face at the front desk, continuously giving out a helpful hand to clients and other staff members. She will be helping out at Allure Spa for one week starting on March 4th, before returning back to Hawaii to endure a new chapter in her life. We have enjoyed "Facetiming" each other on our phones, and have kept in touch during our time apart. We wish Julianne the absolute best, and Allure Spa will always be a home that she can return to!

In the event that Julianne will be making Hawaii her temporary home, she is very excited to pass the torch to Maura Quinn. You may already know Maura Quinn as the beautiful young woman who has grown as a massage therapist and an assistant at Allure Spa for many years. Since this past summer, Maura became part time as she fulfilled a full-time receptionist job at a construction company. This month, she has decided to take her skills and join Allure Spa again, as a front desk manager, and in a full-time position to excel in her career in the spa industry. My staff and I are beyond thrilled to have Maura be with us at Allure Spa.

Lisa Williams will be returning from her one month trip from Costa Rica on March 4th! We look forward to listening to her stories, and sharing her pictures of her adventure. She has kept in touch via email and shares that it has be an incredible experience and she is learning a lot about herself and her faith. Welcome back Lisa Williams!

And of course, our Viola! We are so excited for the arrival of our new Allure Spa baby, Vinsen!  Viola had a beautiful, healthy baby boy on Valentine's Day morning at 4:00 a.m. Baby Vinsen was born weighing 7 lbs. 8 oz. and full of life and love! Viola will return to Allure Spa part-time starting March 18th. She will be available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11-5 and on Saturdays from 9-2.

The Allure Spa Team and I wish you and your families a safe end to this winter season and we look forward to seeing you soon in the spring!
God Bless,
Sandra Ishmael

20th Anniversary Testimonials

Allure Spa will be celebrating 20 years in business this April. Each month leading up to the celebration, we have welcomed both Allure Spa staff and clients to share their experiences over the years. We would love for you to email us your testimonials, so we can reflect and remember all the great and impactful memories at 15 Quincy Avenue! Thank you again for all your continuous support!

I arrived in Boston thirteen years ago from Ireland. I had no idea what life had in store for me moving to this country. Then, I found this little quaint hair salon and spa called Allure Spa and met one of my future inspirations, Sandra.

I have made unbreakable friendships that are so close to my heart over the years at Allure Spa. Allure Spa has been like a second family, and a home away from home.

I value all of my clients so much that have supported my work through all of the years. I enjoy catching up with them and learning about their lives.

I am so thankful to work alongside to the most talented women and am thankful for their teachings to me when I first came to Allure Spa.

I have found that I have grown so much in these past three months. I am also very grateful for all the experiences that Allure Spa has given me. I couldn't be more excited to celebrate the success of Allure Spa's 20th Anniversary celebration. Thank you to Sandra and my fellow staff members for lifetime of memories!
