I would like to dedicate Allure Spa's May newsletter to the power of prayer and the power of people coming together. Through prayer we able to seek beauty; even after such tragedy or horrific events. The beautiful gifts that we receive as people are attributed to strong leadership both in our local communities as well as in our nation. The theme of unity, coming together as people and harmony between others was recently witnessed with the Boston Marathon bombings.

     On May 2nd, two weeks after the Boston Marathon bombings, I attended the The Third Annual Prayer Breakfast at The Tirell Room in Quincy. The date also honored the 62nd Annual National Prayer Day. This was my second time I have attended The Annual Mayor's Prayer Breakfast with one of my staff members, Julianne Follett. The Mayor's Prayer Breakfast event brings together representatives from many local houses of worship, government officials, business, and community and religious leaders. It is a wonderful opportunity to gather as a city in the spirit of interfaith prayer for the well-being of our community. This year's theme was "Living our Faith." It featured local speakers from a variety of faith traditions that empowered all of the attendees. It was so powerful to witness such a community coming together at the breakfast and we were able to share in love, spirit, prayer and reflection.

   The breakfast helped support Interfaith Social Services. Allure Spa has been collaborating with Interfaith Social Services for many years by offering haircut makeovers for those who are struggling financially and have job interviews.

     One of the many blessings in May that I am so thankful for in my life, are the beautiful, uplifting spring flowers. It has always amazed me how each type of flower has such unique detail. As many of you know, I love to display flowers at Allure Spa each week to bring in prosperity, lift our spirits, and provide sweet aromas throughout the building. My son Silas often teases me that when I pass, I will be graced with all the flowers in the world to greet me at Heaven's Gate. I remind him that the most beautiful flowers are here on Earth too and are meant to enjoy each day of our lives.

     I hope that we can all enjoy the spring flowers this month as well as the beauties that life presents us! This month I look forward to the blessing of Molly Coyle and Christian Follett who will be married on May 18th in the Cape.
