Greetings!
Happy Fall! It seems that every month when I sit down to write the newsletter, I am amazed at how quickly the time passes us by. I look forward to the month of October every year because of the beauty it represents. I enjoy the colorful foliage, brisk air, delicious scents of blueberry and apple pies, and the focus on families. October is such a special month to me as I celebrate my son Christian's 20th Birthday. He was just a year and a half when I opened Allure Spa. This upcoming April, Allure Spa will be celebrating 19 years in business. Looking back over the course of the past 20 years, it brings a bitter sweet feeling to me. Often times I wish I could freeze time and enjoy this short time on Earth and appreciate all the little things life brings more slowly. However, it brings joy to my heart to witness the growth that I have been a part of during these past twenty years for my family, business, employees and mission work. I thank you all for being a part of this amazing journey. Last week, I had two amazing and inspirational people come to my home and stay with my family and I for a couple of days. Reverend Subesh and his wife Debbie Ramjattan are the Directors of Bridge of Hope Assembly of God in Trinidad. Bridge of Hope is a children's orphanage that provides shelter and offers vocational skills and education. With my missions with Friends of the World and the ongoing work in Bangladesh, I often struggle with knowing what is the next step or even the vision of the organization. Reverend Subesh offered his advice and guidance which brought a lot of clarity that helped me create a relationship between both heart and mind into making decisions for Friends of the World. In just two short days, Reverend Subesh and his wife Debbie lifted the spirits of my life, my family, my staff at Allure Spa, and my mission. It amazes me how the Lord provides and blesses such exceptional people in our daily lives. Subesh Ramjattan
Subesh Ramjattan is a remarkable man who is hungry for knowledge and reaches for every kernel of truth he can find from any source. His life journey began in a poor village learning common-sense lessons from his family and the village environment. He proceeded to learn more in school and as a young man working hard to gather both the knowledge and the resources needed to start his own business. He listens to anyone who speaks and reads everything in sight. Subesh remembers almost everything good he hears, sees, or learns from any source. He is unselfish in giving resources for projects for the disadvantaged and constantly demonstrates his concern for faith-based operations and the individual believers who take an active role in faith-based groups.
Subesh is a serious student of all subjects that touch his life, business, and spiritual commitment. When he discovers the interrelationship of concepts and constructs, he desires to share them with others. This interest has resulted in a business and spiritual journey that has increased the quality of life for many. His first book, The Anapausis Partnership, co-authored with his wife, Debra, catalogued much of the business and spiritual journey that established a model of philanthropy, mentoring, and coaching to improve the quality of life for the disadvantaged of Trinidad and Tobago. The documentation of this process produced the awarding of a Doctor of Humane Letters (DHL) by OASIS University's Institute of Higher Learning.
Perhaps the most meaningful aspect of the life of Subesh and Debra Ramjattan is that they give all the credit to God for their blessings and their ability to bless others.
An Update from Bangladesh! Everyone at Friends of the World Charitable Trust would like to start off by thanking all of you for your continued support in our ongoing efforts in Bangladesh. We would also like to give you an update on where we are to date. We are excited to announce that we will soon be opening our new business: The International Salon & Spa! We have been working with Milton Barikdar, the manager of the Christian Service Society Ava Center (CSS) in Khulna. Thanks to his help, we were able to find a suitable building for the business. He runs the largest training and conference center in the city, and he has been our eyes and ears since we can't be there! Many of you know China Biswas. She will be the owner of the Spa, and Friends of the World will be involved in micro-financing for the next 6 months. China and staff are both eager to start working, and together they will establish a clientele, advertise the business, and recruit others to get involved in the Spa. It is our hope that they will become self-sustaining in the near future. We look forward to our upcoming trip and the opening of The International Salon & Spa. We will keep everyone informed about our future progress. We are also looking forward to sharing with you our eagerness to work locally as well. We are interested in helping young adults in the Quincy area get started in the industry but we are not sure how the Lord wants us to go about that, so please pray and stay tuned for updates. Again, thank you for all your love, support, and prayers. We are very grateful to be able to continue this important work, and it would not be possible without support from family, friends, and our community.Pictures of The International Salon & Spa in progress: Friends of the World is pleased to welcome aboard new Trustee members Matthew Fuccillo, Azim Ishmael, and Molly Coyle!
