Everyone's encouraged to be good parents!FAMILY CONNECTIONS CLASSES BEGIN AGAIN

An important component of our Rising Stars Program has been our free parenting classes offered in the schools.

Recently, as part of the childcare, we expanded the program to include character education for the children that would compliment the lessons that the parents are receiving. As a result we are using a new name, Family Connections, for this element of Rising Stars.

Just last week these classes started up again at five locations.  The sites include:
  • Heritage Elementary
  • Franke Park Elementary
  • Levon R. Scott Academy
  • Lincoln Elementary
  • Maplewood Elementary

Please keep the families, facilitators, volunteers, and donors in your prayers.

NFN JPG We'd like to give a shout out to our friends at IPFW, who joined us as part of their Big Event last Saturday. Hundreds of pounds of oatmeal was downsized into family friendly portions.

IPFW students making a difference.
The student group also finished sorting the last of our in-kind donations. If you'd like to volunteer to help our Neighborhood Food Network, we humbly suggest organizing a food drive as there are currently no opportunities for groups to sort food.

Announcement from ACAD (Associated Churches Active in Disaster)
No one knows what tomorrow holds.Severe Weather Preparedness Week
March 24-30

Governor Mike Pence has proclaimed March 24th through 30th, 2013 as Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Indiana.

In the gospels we are told, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own (Mt 6:34)."  However, in our own families, churches and organizations, we can expect the unexpected and be as prepared as possible.
