Saturday, Oct 20

Restoration Update by Joe Ports & Chris Trumbauer 
Thanks to the Chesapeake Conservation Corps, we've been able to tackle some exciting new restoration activities. Joe is growing underwater grasses to plant in the West River, and he is leading our Marylanders Grow Oysters programs on the Rhode River. In addition, we are nearing the groundbreaking for our Camp Letts stormwater wetland project, and working on funding a stream restoration in the powerline right-of-way in Harwood.  Read more...

Meet Will Saffell. Will is our 2012-13 Chesapeake Conservation Corps member. He comes to us as a recent graduate from Towson University, where he received a degree in Biology and Environmental Science. Will is looking forward to getting engaged in all of our restoration and conservation activities. We're sure glad to have him aboard. Regulatory Double Play by Bob Gallagher  

Two of the biggest contributors of nutrient pollution to our rivers are runoff from the application of manure to farm fields and septic systems. Important new regulations limiting both were recently approved. There is more work to do, but these new rules represent a step in the right direction. Read More...

Clean Water Rally RALLY FOR CLEAN WATER!                

Join West/Rhode Riverkeeper and Waterkeepers from near and far as we rally for Clean Water in Washington, DC. There are two events in which you can participate: A Speakers Panel on Thursday, Sept 13 and a good ol' fashioned Rally on Saturday, Sept 15.
