New Member Orientations are planned for Tuesday, January 26: 9:30 to 11:00 am at the Ashland Campbell Center (Room E) and 1:00 to 2:30 pm at the Medford HEC (Room 118). New members will receive an electronic invite with details.
OLLI will be exhibiting at the ACCESS Senior Fair on Friday, January 22. The event will be held at the Medford Armory from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This year's event includes a health fair on the following day. See details.
The ever-popular OLLI Fundraiser held annually at ScienceWorks is scheduled for Thursday, February 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Stay tuned for details and an electronic invite.

The lead story on the front page of the December 29 edition of the Mail Tribune describes the health risks of social isolation--which are greater than smoking 15 cigarettes a day or twice as harmful as obesity. National OLLI Program Covered in the New York Times More support for the health benefits of staying socially and intellectually engaged can be found in a January 1 article in the New York Times. The Osher at Johns Hopkins University program is featured in this story, with mention of the 150,000 older adults participating in OLLI programs across the country. If you click on the article you'll see that the annual cost of full benefits in the Johns Hopkins program is $500. Our dues are a bargain!
