Winter Course Catalog Now Online

Halloween Treat. The online registration system for Winter 2015 opened earlier than expected! View the 101 courses being offered next term via the Course Catalog and even start designating Course Requests. There's no need to rush to specify preferred courses, though. The deadline for inclusion in the computerized course allocation is not until November 17. Sign in to your account when you're ready to put course requests into your shopping cart. Please add the "CoHost" item to the cart at the same time. This lets us know that you are generally willing to share hosting with another member in one of the courses in which you're ultimately registered. Fuzzy about the registration process? Click here or get help in the office.

Deadline Extension: Bylaws Vote

Oops! Because the deadline for returning ballots for the two proposed bylaws changes was not printed on either the ballot or on the accompanying letter that was recently mailed to you, we are extending the original deadline to December 1 at 5:00 pm for receipt of member ballots in the Ashland office. This will ensure that all OLLI members have been provided the 30-day notice required by the bylaws.  If you want to review the ballot measures and explanatory letter, click here.

Other Important Announcements

Don't Get Towed! Grace Lutheran Church has been an exceptional neighbor, reducing parking issues for members that utilize the Ashland campus. Now, however, individuals (hopefully, NOT our members!) have encroached upon the spaces closest to their building on the left. It may be assumed that it's OK to park in empty spots because it's not Sunday, but the church requires these for their weekday activities. They have posted signs indicating that they will tow unauthorized cars and intend to enforce this. Don't lose your transportation home or jeopardize OLLI's access to this convenient location by parking in areas that are marked as church spaces.

Save the Date for OLLI Movie Matinee. Enjoy an afternoon showing of a newly released film (to be determined) while munching popcorn and mingling with other members and their guests. This fun event, which contributes to OLLI's Annual Fund, will take place on the afternoon of Thursday, November 20. Details to follow.

Spring Course Proposals. Instructors interested in teaching Spring 2015 will be able to submit proposals using the convenient online form starting December 1. Start lobbying those that you wish would offer a course or think about one you'd like to teach yourself. Details of teaching at OLLI here.

Video Links to Community Lectures

By Popular Demand. Several recent OLLI Lectures generated particular interest, and many members expressed disappointment that they could not attend:

  • "From Play to Page: Ashland New Plays Festival 2014." Insights on birthing new plays, presented by ANPF Artistic Director Douglas Rowe.
  • "Long Term Services and Supports: the Oregon Approach." Description of senior services that benefit those of all incomes, presented by Dave Toler, Director of Senior & Disability Services at Rogue Valley Council of Government
