You're Invited to Sally's Send-Off

As previously announced, our hard-working Program Manager Sally Klein is retiring after shepherding the OLLI at SOU program through eight years of significant change. Although Sally will be in the office through November 1 helping to orient Anya Neher, her official retirement date is October 18.

By way of thanks and to give Sally a great send-off, there will be a party on her "Retirement Eve", T
hursday, October 17 from 4:00 to 5:30 pm at the Schneider Art Museum. The museum is located on the SOU campus at Siskiyou and Indiana. There will be light appetizers. More details will follow.
And, Speaking of Parties....

In the survey that was part of the registration process, many of you indicated that meeting new OLLI friends at social events is one of your goals. Planning for or helping with one of these events is an even more enjoyable way to get to know other members. The old adage "many hands make light work" is indeed true, so please pitch in. Click to email  Peggy Bruce and let her know that you can spare 3-4 hours here and there to help with one of OLL's social events. You wouldn't have to prepare any of the food - or stomp the grapes!
Mentor an SOU Honors Student

Southern Oregon University welcomed the first 28 students to its brand-new Honors College this week.  Ken Mulliken, director of the program, is inviting OLLI members to become mentors for specific students. It's an opportunity to link your real-world experience with what's learned in the classroom, and to give the student an understanding of career options in their chosen areas. Come to the Learn-a-Palooza

Jackson County Library Services is celebrating lifelong learning with a fun event on Saturday, October 19 from noon to 4:00 pm at the Medford Library. Come and learn about Facebook, E-Readers, databases, Freegal, and experience the calming exercise of Tai Chi! You can be entered in a drawing for a free Kindle e-reader by visiting Literacy Partners' information tables. Be sure to stop by the OLLI booth! See flyer for details
