OLLI members and friends are invited!
Come join fellow OLLI members at a free Chamber Music Concerts program by the award-winning Jupiter String Quartet. The quartet will perform, talk about the music and take questions from the audience. Free parking is available in the large parking lot across from the Music Building on Mountain Ave.
The Jupiter String Quartet, formed in 2001, is a particularly intimate group, consisting of violinists Nelson Lee and Megan Freivogel, violist Liz Freivogel (older sister of Meg), and cellist Daniel McDonough (husband of Meg, brother-in-law of Liz). The Jupiters have been fortunate to receive several recent chamber music honors, including first prize in the Banff International String Quartet Competition, grand prize in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competion, membership in Lincoln Center's Chamber Music Society Two, and Chamber Music America's Cleveland Quartet Award, which "honors and promotes a rising young string quartet whose artistry demonstrates that it is in the process of establishing a major career."
"From beginning to end, they played as if they were on fire, with passion and energy galore. But what was most impressive was the vibrant approach they brought to the work. The music was always changing, with shifting dynamics, crisp articulations and exciting phrasing." Kansas City Star
"The Jupiter Quartet offer[ed] an unforgettable performance. The group has a pleasing stage presence...the pleasure they take in one another's musical company was palpable." The Boston Globe
