Beginning Crochet

Saturday, March 2 and 9, 2013 from 2 pm until 4 pm.

Do you want to crochet, but not sure you know how?  Jane, our instructor, will cover chaining, single and double crochet, reading patterns, and weaving in your ends.  This is your opportunity to crochet a cute scarf, while learning how to navigate crocheting.

This is the designer's description -
The Artfully Simple Infinity Scarf pattern is super easy, hides a multitude of sins, and comes with just one rule: no stress allowed! This finished scarf is between 50 and 60 inches long, and twists and turns on itself naturally - perfect for wearing doubled as a cowl, as well as long, tied, anything you can come up with! The little button tie embellishment is a separate optional piece, and instructions for that are included as well!

Materials needed:
Crochet hook K
279 yds worsted weight - we suggest variegated.

Button is optional (we have lots of cute ones)

Cost:  $30.

Class Policies-

Class fees are due when you sign up to secure your spot in the class.

Class fees are refundable up to 48 hours before the class, unless the class is cancelled by us.  In that case, the fee will be refunded to you, preferably in the form of store credit or check.

Simply Summer Tweed Top Down Pullover KAL

One of our customers bought yarn to knit three of these.  While talking about the pattern, we decided a KAL (knit along) was in order.  So, for three Wednesdays, we will be meeting from 10 am until 1 pm to work on this sweater.

I suggest downloading the free pattern from Ravelry and reading the other knitter's comments, so you have an idea of what you want to accomplish.  I am still debating on which yarn to use, but Mary is using Nature Spun worsted.

Join us on Wednesdays - February 27 and March 6 and 13 from 10 am until 1 pm.

Please support our business by purchasing your supplies from Thistledown Shoppe.

 New Website

Thanks to my amazing cousin, Lisa Brookfield, I now have a website that I am able to manage.

That means that it will be more up to date, with current information.  I have also added a calendar, so you may check for ongoing events.

Needless to say, I am thrilled to have this available and hope that you will find information you need.

Eisig-Warm Cowl -  my sister brought this cowl to my attention.  I had favorited it way back when, but then forgot about it.  Anyway, I love the colors the designer used and am thinking of ordering the yarn.
Any other takers?
I would also suggest any of our worsted weight yarns, along with Eco.
Do not forget to check it out on Ravelry.  And if you want to download the pattern, check the English version.

Diving in {recipe} - this is an asymmetrical scarf, knitted with fingering weight yarn.  Size US 6 and garter stitch make it quick and easy.  It is also a great stash buster.   But, if you find that you really need new yarn, we have lots of choices.

Turn A Square - knit a hat in worsted weight.  The designer is Jared Flood, aka Brooklyn Tweed.  You cannot go wrong with his patterns.  I suggest Liberty Wool print.

Tweedish Cloth - want really quick, easy, and functional?  Knit this dishcloth, using slipped stitches.  You will need both solid and variegated yarn which we have.

Owl Hat - This is one for the crocheters.  Sizes run from newborn to adult, using worsted weight yarn.

Mini Hearts - Valentine's Day is approaching and these are the cutest little hearts.  Crochet it in worsted weight yarn and you have a nice gift for your sweetie.
