Welcome to Thistledown Shoppe
Greetings!
Thanks to all that participated in the Shop Hop. We heard many positive comments from folks who came in and I can assure you that the shops also enjoyed the event. Based on such a great response, we plan on doing this every year.
I am still in the process of contacting folks that won prizes from our shoppe. We had about 25 separate prizes (I meant to count them, but forgot.) Jane Crabtree was the Grand Prize winner. Her prize included a $50 gift certificate from each of the six shops, along with other goodies.
As we move into our sixth year of business, we are continually exploring different avenues of better offering you a community based yarn shoppe. Let us know if you have any comments, suggestions, thoughts, etc. on how we can better meet your needs.

Knitter's Pride Karbonz Needles
are made of carbon fiber with nickel plated brass tips, ensuring a smooth tip.
What is carbon fiber? It is a super strong material that's also extremely lightweight. Engineers and designers love it because it's five times as strong as steel, two times as stiff, yet weighs about two-thirds less. (taken from http://auto.howstuffworks.com/fuel-efficiency/fuel-economy/carbon-fiber-oil-crisis1.htm)
Knitter's Pride is starting with US 000 to US 4 in circulars, double points and single points. The bigger sizes and interchangeables will be lined up for a subsequent launch.
You are welcome to try these new needles out before purchasing.

What I have been doing
Okay, this is personal stuff. As some of you know I have become a new grandmother and I am very fortunate to have gained a new son, along with his wonderful family. So, here are some wedding pictures and our sweet grandson..

Free Patterns
Bias Ridge Hat - many, many years ago, I received a similar pattern from Mary at the Glen Arbor yarn shop. It is was easy and cute. Use our Jojoland Fantasia for a fast and easy hat. Christmas Ball Ornaments - the pattern calls for sport weight yarn. We suggest Milla Mia or Nature Spun sport. Felted Robin's Nest Ornament - felted bowl and eggs. Cute. Pine Tree Sachet - nice, scented gift to tie to your packages or place in a stocking. Knitted Felted Bowl - I can always use a catch all bowl on my dresser. Jewelry, needles, pot for my plant. Here is a cute pattern calling for worsted weight yarn such as Lamb's Pride. Roundabout - this is the season for stripes. Pick out your worsted weight balls of yarn and go for it. |
Tips and Tricks
This is my favorite cast on. No worries about how much yarn to pull out. Just put on two stitches and go for it. Cable Cast on
