Greetings!
Blind guides! You strain your water so you won't accidentally swallow a gnat, but you swallow a camel! Matthew 23:24 (NLT)
The car's sensors blinked and beeped, signaling impending peril as the front end of my car pulled into the fast food drive thru line, narrowly missing the supersized neon menu. A computerized voice erupted from the spinning head of a clown. "Welcome to It's a Wonderful Life. Order when you're ready." My flesh rumbled. I can't imagine why I am so hungry! It's only 11 am but it had been a busy morning. I'd already fussed at my children, deleted a file on my computer, cursed the evil of inanimate objects and our pet Yorkies of questionable pedigree, provided free driving instructions to fellow commuters and my trapped passengers. And I still had to meet with a roofer to see if they could add shade covering to my corner of our home's rooftop.

My voice oozed sweet tea kindness. "Yes, may I please have a camel burger with manna fries, Aqua Vida bottled water, and a spiritual fruit medley cup. Oh, by the way, is your special sauce gnat free? Because I'm gnat intolerant."
Okay, so maybe it didn't exactly happen like that. Well, at least the spinning clown head part. Whether it's passing judgement on someone and waiting for them to clean up before I share MY Jesus or barking out more commands than a NFL quarterback on Superbowl Sunday, these are the moments when I home in with laser intensity on the gnats in my life - the things that really don't matter, quickly turning a blind eye to the camel traipsing throughout my thoughts and actions.
22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23
It really comes down to the fruit of the spirit - fruit is singular. Just like when we have to answer to God, there isn't any collective we and there isn't any fruit medley cup.
We can't have the love without joy, peace without patience, kindness without goodness, faithfulness without gentleness. In the memory game of our heart, the match for self-control is submission to the Holy Spirit.
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
Galatians 5:25 NIV1984
Simply put, follow the Holy Spirit's lead. Take a moment and sift your thoughts before you speak. Every thought doesn't require expression; every question an answer or
comment.
Holy Spirit, grow in me. Compel my heart to turn to you and cultivate a life well lived in Christ. Amen
Going to go take care of the gnats at my house.
Blessings on you,
Kristianne

We invite you to join us as we launch our new lifestyle fitness page - just for you - all online. Helpful, insightful, and practical will be just a small part of what you and I will glean from this Lifestyle Fitness tool. Join with me and Kristianne as she leads us to become more of the woman God desires us to be as we are strengthened from the inside out! Frame It Up: Calcium The recommended calcium dose for premenopausal women eighteen years and older is 1000 mg/day. After menopause (postmenopausal), when a woman stops menstruating, the dosage is 1200mg-1500 mg/day. Calcium is readily absorbed when taken with meals and even helps decrease abdominal cramping. Calcium supplements are better absorbed when taken in small doses (500 mg or less) several times throughout the day. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. LifeWay Women Live:
The Barrenness of Busyness
Don't forget, this Women's webcast featuring author and speaker Cindi Wood, and author and women's minister Sheila West, is TODAY (Tuesday), March 19, 2013. The live stream begins at 12:00 Noon (Central).
Go to: http://media.lifeway.com/forumlive.asp to open the video player. The player will open and display a countdown clock to the event time. Webcast Description: How do we hear God's whispers amidst the never ending "to-do" list of responsibilities as a ministry leader? So many needs, so little time. Perhaps we need to re-define success for ourselves even as we lead other women to fight the "barrier of busyness" to focus on the BEST each day.

A Good Start
 | Kendra Perkins |
We got off to a great start with Nut Butter and our homemade protein bars. If you missed them last week - you can check them out on my page. Remember that a nut butter is a spreadable foodstuff made by crushing nuts or seeds. The butters are rich in protein, fiber, and essential fatty acids and should be used to replace butter or margarine on toast or bread.
Today we continue our great start with "Steel Cut Oats" for breakfast. What are these oats? Steel-cut oats are whole grain groats (the inner portion of the oat kernel) which have been cut into pieces. They are commonly used in Scotland and Ireland to make porridge, whereas rolled oats are used in England, other English-speaking countries, and Scandinavia. There are some questions as to whether steel cut oats are that much better than regular oatmeal but I would have to say that at this point we need a
Friendly reminder - MINIMALLY PROCESSED IS BEST - READ THE LABEL.
Oats low in Saturated Fat, and very low in Cholesterol and Sodium. It is also a good source of Dietary Fiber, Phosphorus and Selenium, and a very good source of Manganese.
Steel Cut Oats
What you need:
1 Cup Steel Cut Oats 4 cups water 1/2 tsp - 1 tsp salt.
The night before combine the ingredients and boil on low for 10 min. Cover and put in refridgerator. Next morning heat the oats over low heat until thoroughly heated through.
Possible add-ins: any or all, raisins, nuts or seeds, cran-raisins, chocolate chips, chopped apples, chopped pears, peanut butter, almond butter, dried fruit or just add butter and skim milk. Enjoy! YUM!
While this is a simple recipe my hope is that you will see that it is not hard for us to simply live healthy. Come on over to my page and I'll be glad to help you in any way I can!
Living the Blessed Life!
