URGENT! NSW Parliament to legalise discrimination against the unvaccinated

NSW Parliament to Legalise Discrimination and ban unvaccinated children from childcare and preschool!

Details are still a bit sketchy, but the news has just been released that changes to the Public Health Act have just been approved by cabinet and has been approved by both the Liberals and Labour.

This does not mean that the law has passed and indeed, despite calling the Premier's office for the last two days, the AVN has been unable to get a copy of the actual legislation. We have been told that it will be introduced for debate on Thursday this week (30th May, 2013).

It does mean that if you have been sitting back waiting for someone else to write a letter or call or (preferably) visit your State Member of Parliament, you need to do it tomorrow or the next day at the latest!

Here is what little we know - more information will be released as we find it:

The anti-discrimination act will need to be amended in order to legalise discrimination against unvaccinated children.
This is a bit contradictory because, the Public Health Act is being amended to 'allow' preschools and childcare centres to ban or exclude unvaccinated children, but...
The reports then go on to say that centres will be fined $4,000 for allowing unvaccinated children in.
Parents with a "genuine objection" to vaccination can apply for exemptions but "genuine objections will require proof from a GP that vaccines will be likely to harm the child so your chances of obtaining one of these forms are slim to nil.
Religious exemptions will be available but the Premier has said that he is hoping that parents won't think about forming their own religion to get around the new rules. There was no mention of Christian Scientists but the Federal Legislation does specifically leave an out for members of that church. Perhaps they will soon see a huge increase in congregants?

This is all the information currently available. The AVN will be contacting Parliament tomorrow morning and will update you on what we find out.

In the meantime, if you rely on:

Childcare
Preschool
Day Care or Long Day Care

If you don't vaccinate your child, you MUST take action now.

And if you run one of these facilities and don't want to be forced to discriminate against perfectly healthy unvaccinated children or have to close down because the majority of your clients can no longer send their children to you, it is up to you to become active as well.

The ONLY reason this is happening now is because more and more parents are deciding that vaccinations are neither safe enough nor effective enough for their children. It is our right to make these decisions and the government has NO right to discriminate against its citizens. Get up, get active, get angry and get moving!

approves of Discrimination!

In the 'stranger than fiction' file has to be this letter to one of our members from the misleadingly-named Civil Liberties of Australia:

Dear DM

We support vaccination, as it is a right of the child.

Note, the child. The child has a separate right from that of the parent.

Parents can believe anything they like, but we believe children have the right to the best chance at health.

This is a formal right under international agreement. the Convention on the Right of the Child.

You can make any choice you like...that's your right. You can insist on your right to say 'no' as a new parent, but it could be your child who suffers the consequences.

Or another child: see the example in our policy document, or see the vision of the baby whooping in Sunday night's documentary on SBS http://www.sbs.com.au under Video Highlights, "Jabbed: Love, Fear and Vaccines" (you only need to watch a few minutes, the child comes at the start of the program). The child was whooping because an unvaccinated children had passed on the disease to the baby before the baby was old enough to be vaccinated.

If you choose to not vaccinate your children, we believe you are taking away their right to their best chance at health.

Your choice.

FROM OUR POLICY DOCUMENT:

The child has a right to health, independent of the right of a parent to adopt measures for her or his child that accord with the parent's view.

CLA believes that a child has a right to immediate vaccination in the face of an imminent and preventable illness (for example, Hep B for children born to mothers who have the disease) and has a right to a 'best chance' at life, which would support the well-tested schedule of childhood vaccinations.

Parents have a responsibility to act in the 'best interests' of the child (this is a formal responsibility on a parent under the Convention on Rights of the Child).

CLA's position allows children (and their parents) to make their own decision on some types of vaccines, especially those that come later in life, such as the HPV[1] vaccine (which isn't life saving in the same way Hep B, tetanus or whooping cough vaccines can be). It also allows parents a way to opt-out of 'new' and less-tested vaccines such as seasonal influenza.

What Mr Rowlings seems to be saying is that the government knows more about how to raise our children than we the parents do. Do we really want the government telling us what to feed our kids, how to educate them and how to keep them healthy? The same government that can't balance a budget, run a hospital system or set a coordinated education curriculum? If most of us ran our houses the way the government runs the country, we would be homeless, destitute and critically ill - yet the organisation which is supposedly there to protect individual rights wants us to let the government raise our children!

Now, this is a sign of not only ignorance (the science is NOT overwhelmingly positive - only the propaganda is) but gross disregard for those in the community who will be adversely affected by vaccinations. It is not OK to take away the rights of the few for the many - that isn't how democracy works.

The AVN would like to recommend that everyone write to all NSW Parliamentarians (please click here to download the file with all email addresses) - whether you live in NSW or not. Your letter can be as simple as:

Were you aware of the following Australian Government data?

These graphs clearly show that vaccinations were not responsible for the decline in deaths from infectious diseases over the last century.

If you were not aware of this, you need to ask why you've been lied to.

If you were aware of this, we need to ask why you have lied to us.

In addition, tell them your stories of any problems with vaccines in your own family or in those you are close to. Tell them in no uncertain terms that they were not elected to discriminate against any Australian citizens or residents but were put into office to protect all of their constituents and you expect them to protect you and your children or neither they nor anyone else from their party will receive your support at the next election.

If you have the time, please think about including any or all of the following points in your letters:

There has never been a documented case of an outbreak of infectious diseases proven to have started with an unvaccinated child.
There HAVE been outbreaks documented to have started with fully vaccinated children and adults.
Vaccinations cannot prevent a person from spreading or contracting illnesses - even if they themselves are not infected.
Are the preschools and childcare centres going to draw blood from the fully vaccinated children prior to allowing them entry? Since this policy is supposedly being put into place to protect these children and between 5 and 35% of all vaccinated people don't seroconvert, shouldn't they also be identified and excluded for the protection of the others at the facility?
Will teachers and other preschool and childcare staff also be required to get boosters? What if they object or are susceptible to adverse reactions?
Will the NSW State Government set up a fund to compensate those who are vaccine-injured or killed as a result of this new policy? Where will the money come from for such a fund and how will it be administered?
