THE BISHOP IS COMING ON DECEMBER 13
Bishop Dena Harrison will be at Trinity on Sunday, December 13 at the 10:30 a.m. service to administer the sacraments of Confirmation and Baptism and to receive those who wish to partake. As we begin to make plans for classes, please contact the church office if you or someone you know would like to learn more about our denomination or parish
|
Welcome Visitors!
We are blessed that you chose to attend a service at Trinity today. We have a gift for you, so before exiting the church, please see Carolyn Speich in the narthex to receive your gift and to complete a visitor's card. We extend an invitation to our newcomers and visitors for dinner at the Rectory at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, September 14th. RSVP to Carolyn Speich at [email protected] Your table is ready! |

A Church Directory is Coming! We are diligently working on the parish directory, the draft is ready for printing but some photographs have not been provided. Any changes in addresses, phone numbers or email addresses must be corrected by September 20. If you have not posed for a picture in the last 12 months, please email a picture to Trish at [email protected]. On Rally Day...if we don't have a picture, don't be surprised if you are asked to step under a tree or somewhere outside holding a sign with you name on it for a photo op. Thanks to Cheryl Tucker and
Kathy VanDewalli for their commitment to this project.

5:30 P.M. SUNDAY EVENING SERVICE BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 13
The church has been approached by several individuals who, for a variety of reasons (work schedule, travel schedule, medication schedule, etc.) would prefer a weekly Communion service in the evening, the 5:30 p.m. Sunday "Come As You Are" service will last 30 minutes and will take place at a small altar on the floor level of the sanctuary...so it will be entirely accessible. We will read the Gospel assigned for the day, enjoy a conversation type of sermon (!), pray for the church and the world, and celebrate Communion Rite 2, Prayer A. Please join us if you are unexpectedly tied up on a Sunday morning or just prefer the 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. experience. Our stained glass windows are vibrant with color at this time of day!

SAVE THE DATE!
RALLY DAY, AND 3RD SUNDAY LUNCH ON SEPTEMBER 20
Rally Day officially marks the kick-off of a new year of Sunday School. The adult SWEEPS series will begin as well as a new year in the Godly Play curriculum.
PLEASE NOTE: Our guest speaker at both services will be The Reverend Canon Kai Ryan, Canon to the Ordinary for the Diocese of Texas. She is eager to experience the fabulous Trinity Sunday morning. Please come and welcome her. We will also have 3rd Sunday Lunch...a picnic on the garth and a bouncy house for the kids.

ADULT EDUCATION: S.W.E.E.P.S
9:30 A.M. BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 20 - EATON HALL
Service, Worship, Education, Evangelism, Pastoral Care and Stewardship: Adult Sunday School will begin exploring these six key components of our calling as a Christian Community. We will look at what the bible has to say about each one, we will look at what we do currently, what we have done in the past, and what do we hope to do in the future. Which of these six things are the most important? Which attracted you to Trinity? Please come and participate if you are a long-time member, a new member, or a visitor who hasn't really decided whether to join.

WILLIAM TEMPLE CENTER
Larissa Botik, Executive Director
(409) 599.1457 or
On Saturday, UTMB hosted their annual Welcome Weekend for new students at the Moody Gardens Convention Center. Hundreds of students passed by our table where they were greeted by our wonderful volunteers and two of our students: Kristen Gill and Makenzie Hodge. Kristen is a medical student who aspires to a pediatrician. Makenzie recently graduated from the School of Medicine and is now pursuing her Masters Degree in Public Health. Both have been active at Trinity as readers and Eucharistic Ministers. We have truly amazing young men and women students! Special thanks to all who helped with Welcome Weekend and applause to David Hughes for last week's baked beans and Teresa Reeves for the homemade oatmeal cookies.
*This Wednesday, August 26, UTMB is hosting dinner for their new students, therefore we will NOT be serving dinner in Eaton Hall. Dinner will resume its normal schedule next week.

TRINITY PRESIDENTIAL VISIT IN 1891
One of our visitors, who wrote to thank us for the special tour of Trinity over the July 4th weekend, found this article in the Marshall, Texas newspaper. It is dated April 20, 1891.
"President Harrison and party attended services at Galveston yesterday morning at the First Presbyterian church and in the evening, the President was present at Trinity Episcopal church."
|
COMING IN OCTOBER 2015
The Episcopal Diocese of Texas owns a museum-quality, experiential display of sacred objects from 6 religious traditions: Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, and Native American traditions.
The focus of the exhibit is peace: how we pray for peace, and how we make peace. Look for more details about this fabulous experience for all of Galvestonians as we get closer to the date.
|
SHARE YOUR HOLIDAYS FOOD DRIVE
All four weekends in September we will be collecting nonperishable food items for the community-wide food drive concluding in December at Ball High School. Many congregations and organizations are joining in this effort, including the Galveston Ministerial Alliance. We are collecting food during September in order to avoid any confusion/competition around multiple outreach efforts closer to the actual holiday season. Everything that we gather will stay with local (Galveston) food pantries and agencies.

PHOENIX JEWELRY
Although the jewelry will no longer be for sale on Sunday's, the larger pieces will be sold at Design Works, 2119 A Postffice. (Across from MOD Coffee Shop). Trish has agreed to sell the small pieces in the office Tuesday-Friday.
The Donovans are taking the smaller bits and slivers of glass to Mexico to have "God's Light Kaleidoscopes" made. We anticipate they will be ready for Christmas giving, another "miracle of the broken glass."

10th grade and above. Please Contact our Music Director, Ron Wyatt or ask one of the current choir members how to join. Rehearsals at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays and/or 9:00 a.m. Sunday mornings. |
