Auburn Headed Back to Atlanta in 2015 for CFA Kickoff Game!
Announcement made on Thursday
From the Opelika-Auburn News
Auburn will open its 2015 season against Louisville in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, the program announced Thursday. The game will be played Sept. 5 in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
"It will be a great opportunity for us to play on a national stage to kick off the college football season against a very good Louisville program," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said in a statement released through the university. "We love playing in Atlanta at the Georgia Dome in front of our fans who live in the area or who can make the short drive to see Auburn play in a first-class event."
It will be the third time in five seasons the Tigers play a game affiliated with Chick-fil-A. Auburn opened last season against Clemson in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game. It lost that contest, but beat Virginia in the 2011 Chick-fil-A Bowl. (click here to read the rest of the article online)

Donate a "War Eagle" Shirt for an Auburn Tiger in the Military
We received this great photo this week from some fine Auburn Tigers at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. They are with an Army unit out of Birmingham. The cool thing about the photo is the shirts they are all wearing. A company in Alabama sends these shirts to troops for FREE. But we learned this week that they need more donors/sponsors for the Auburn "War Eagle!" shirts! They told us they currently have troop requests for at least 30-40 AU shirts, and they know there will eventually be more when word really gets out (they started out w/only Bama shirts).
Anyone can order and wear one of these shirts from Teams for Troops. We are asking everyone in the Auburn Family to also consider donating a shirt. They are officially licensed shirts and very nice. Check their website for more information http://teamsfortroops.com/ and email us any questions.

BIG News for AU's School of Communications & Journalism
Raycom Media joins Auburn for collaboration to train students
AUBURN UNIVERSITY - Auburn University's School of Communication and Journalism in the College of Liberal Arts and Raycom Media have announced a pioneering partnership to train multimedia student journalists.
Faculty and Raycom Media professionals will work with students in a convergent newsroom to reinforce classroom lessons with live reporting experiences. Communication and journalism majors will work in an active newsroom to produce local news stories for television, the Web, social media and digital devices, according to Jennifer Wood Adams, director of the School of Communication and Journalism.
"The Auburn and Raycom collaboration will provide students with invaluable training, real-time journalism ethics instruction and insight into industry expectations," Adams said. "The groundbreaking part of this partnership is the direct link our students will have to Raycom news executives, who will be able to mentor and guide their professional development, as well as tap students and graduates for internships and jobs."
The Auburn University news studio will adopt a teaching hospital model that has been strongly advocated for by media executives and journalism foundations. Last fall, representatives from the nation's leading journalism foundations, who have been clamoring for change in the way journalism students are educated, wrote an open letter to university presidents stating that students need a "teaching hospital" newsroom that is akin to the training medical students receive by working alongside a physician on rounds while in medical school. Have You Heard About the Super Cam Club?
Cam Newton talks to AU's Charles Goldberg
By Charles Goldberg, AuburnTigers.com
AUBURN, Ala. -- Cam Newton is doing what Cam Newton does... preparing for his NFL season with the Carolina Panthers, talking up Auburn and Gus Malzahn and finding time for charitable work.
Football-wise, he says he likes the feel of his Panthers. "Character guys," he says. And for Auburn, "I'm expecting great things" with Malzahn, the coach who helped Newton and the Tigers orchestrate the Tigers' 2010 national championship.
Newton's latest charitable venture from the Cam Newton Foundation is the Super Cam Club, an education outreach program. Fans can pledge donations for each of Newton's passing and rushing touchdowns this season. Donations can range from $5 or more to $250 or more for each touchdown. Those who participate will receive a variety of favors, from an autographed photo to an autographed football to an autographed jersey to an opportunity to meet Newton and receive jerseys at a season-ending function. It depends how much you pledge.
Newton says the donations, based on his touchdowns, "keeps everybody involved and excited about the upcoming season." Newton is an old pro in charitable work, especially in North Carolina where his Panthers play, his hometown of Atlanta and in Auburn where he visited schools. He's been involved in a variety of community service and school projects, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the YMCA and donated to schools for learning programs. He's been a visible volunteer, always posing with kids for one more photo. (read the rest of the article here on AuburnTigers.com)
