War Eagle from the Atlanta Auburn Club!

Greetings!

Just over a week now until Auburn's home opener in Jordan-Hare against Washington State at 6pm CT.  So, football season is upon us!  We have gotten emails about whether the club is planning any bus trips. We have checked on some dates, but now we need your feedback!  Please see the information below and get us your comments ASAP!  We want to book any buses right away.

Auburn still has a limited number of tickets available for the 2013 football season - go to AubTix.com for more information.

Also in this email:
  • A reminder that our community service project at MedShare in Decatur is on Saturday morning from 9a-noon.  This is part of an initiative by Auburn alumni nationwide to do a local day of service.  Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to join us!  We still need more volunteers- so if you can lend a hand, check the info below and let us know!
  • College Colors Day is next Friday, August 30.  This is the nationwide day to wear your colors, so we hope to see a lot of AUBURN around metro Atlanta.  Auburn also still needs your daily votes for the College Colors Day Spirit Cup. Links are below.
For those wanting to buy/sell Auburn tickets this season - you can keep it in the Family by posting to the ticket exchange on our Facebook page. We will be bumping the Exchange up on the group wall throughout the season, so that it can be easily located on that page.  If you are not on Facebook, feel free to email us the info at the address below and we can post your information for you.

Did you know? ESPN has been sharing some historical milestones about its coverage of college football.  Among all the highlights was this tidbit:  "Most-Viewed Telecast: Auburn's last-second 22-19 victory over Oregon in Glendale, Ariz. stands as the most-watched program in cable television history with 27,316,000 viewers (January 10, 2011 on ESPN)"  Click here to see what The War Eagle Reader had to say about it. So, here's our question: We know Auburn owned about 75% of the stadium for the BCS game.  Where were you?  In Glendale at the game, or among the viewers at home that made that game "the most-watched program" in cable history?

WAR EAGLE!

AAC Bus Trips in 2013 - We Need Your Feedback!
Please Email your comments ASAP so that we can book the buses

We've been getting a number of emails lately from Auburn Tigers asking about possible Atlanta Auburn Club bus trips to Auburn football games.  We have checked on four possible games/dates -- three of them are to Auburn for home games.  The other is to Knoxville.

The games we are considering are:
Sep 14 -- to Auburn for the Miss State game
Nov 9  -- to Knoxville for the Tennessee game
Nov 16 -- to Auburn for the UGA game
Nov 30 -- to
Auburn for the Alabama game

Trips to Auburn would cost $35-40/per person roundtripTrip to Knoxville for the Tennessee game would likely be $75/per person. All buses would have WiFi, Satellite TV, and 110 outlets
image/ UGA bus trip

We need to know we can fill these buses, so we want to hear from you.  What is your interest in possible bus trips?  Which trips would you be interested in?  Would you be willing to book your seat for these trips right away? And are there enough people interested in an Alabama game bus when that is the week of Thanksgiving? (we've always been very hesitant to even try this game because so many people are out of town for the holiday).

Please email us your thoughts. We'll even take early reservations! ;)

Auburn -vs- Arkansas to Kickoff 2014 Season

By Charles Goldberg, AuburnTigers.com

AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn won't waste any time jumping into SEC play in 2014.

The Tigers will open next season's football schedule against Arkansas in Jordan-Hare Stadium, the first time Auburn will begin a season against a conference team since a win over Ole Miss in 1995.

Four of Auburn's first five games will be at home in 2014. The SEC released next year's conference schedule for all league teams Wednesday. Auburn released its entire schedule.

2014 football schedule

Auburn will play home games against SEC rivals LSU, South Carolina and Texas A&M. The non-conference home games are San Jose State, Louisiana Tech and Samford, coached by former Auburn Heisman Trophy winner Pat Sullivan. The Tigers also played host to Samford and Sullivan in 2011 when current Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee ran the Bulldogs' offense.

Auburn doesn't hit the road in the SEC until Oct. 11 when it plays at Mississippi State. The Tigers also play conference games at Ole Miss, Georgia and Alabama. Auburn's other road trip is a non-conference game at Kansas State, a return game from the Wildcats' visit to Jordan-Hare in 2007.

There are two open dates in 2014.

WAR EAGLE FROM THE AUBURN FAMILY HUDDY!
Spotted in New York - The Auburn Photo of the Week
This is the pic that everyone was talking about
dicaprio tweet
Actor Leonardo DiCaprio had a lot of Auburn Tigers saying "War Eagle!" when this photo started making the rounds on social media this week.

And - as noted by Auburn Athletics and others - it is not the first time he has worn this particular Auburn hat.  So is he a fan? Or is just making a fashion statement?

Here is how Auburn blog The War Eagle Reader covered the story

And another Auburn blog, Warblogle.com, noted that DiCaprio's collection of baseball caps includes three other teams on Auburn's schedule.  Here, take a look for yourself!

One thing's for sure, there's not a houndstooth cap among them!
