Showing kids and teens "The Jesus Way"
Marcia Brown

Are you planning your summer Vacation Bible School? Lutheran Outdoor Ministries, an affiliate of the ELCA, has released its 2016 curriculum titled "The Jesus Way." The theme challenges participants of all ages to live for others, to trust in God's promises as we serve...not in the way of the world, but in Jesus' way.

Purchase of the curriculum, which includes Bible studies, crafts and games, also gives you access to the website designed as a resource where you can ask questions and share ideas. There is also a webinar to help those developing and using the curriculum. See http://www.lomnetwork.org/.

Lutheran Outdoor Ministries is an association of outdoor ministry organizations dedicated to encouraging, equipping, educating and empowering bold and faithful outdoor ministry leaders for service in the church and the world.

We are church together for the sake of the world. God's Work. Our Hands.

Leymah Gbowee

Keynote Speaker
Once every three years voting members gather to make decisions about how to go about God's work as a church. The 2016 ELCA Churchwide Assembly will be held in New Orleans, Aug. 8-13. Not a voting member? Not a problem. For the first time, all ELCA members - not just voting members - are invited to New Orleans.

The Grace Gathering is intersecting with the 2016 Churchwide Assembly Wednesday, Aug. 10 - Saturday, Aug. 13. The event will allow ELCA members to observe the assembly and participate in workshops and worship, with a focus on preparing for the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.

Featured speakers include our presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton and Nobel Peace Prize winner Leymah Gbowee. Reserve your spot by June 15 and receive a registration discount.

Mission Interpretation Conversation
Denise Ballou
Mission Interpreter
Coordinator
Please join us Monday, June 6 during Synod Assembly for a lunch conversation around the Mission Interpretation Ministry in our synod.  Find the table near the back reserved for Mission Interpreters!  It doesn't matter if you're a veteran mission interpreter or someone who just wants to know more about this ministry that tells the stories of how God is changing lives through our generosity.  Conversation topics include:  what this ministry is all about, why this ministry is important to the life of our congregations, what's it looks like in our synod and our Churchwide organization, how you can get involved, and upcoming opportunities.  And, of course, anything you might bring to the table.

We look forward to sharing this discussion with you during our time together at our Synod Assembly.
