Rev. Hugh C. Whitaker

 We give thanks for the life of Rev. Hugh C. Whitaker.  Hugh entered life eternal on Monday, May 4, 2015 at the age of 90.

Hugh received his BA degree at Wagner College in Staten Island and received his Master of Divinity Degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.  He was ordained on June 8, 1955.  He served at St. John's in NYC; St. Matthew's, Oswego; Christ, Little Falls and Zion, Athens serving on several committees including as President of the Council of Churches and President of the Little Falls Ministerial Association.  

Upon retiring he returned to his hometown in Saugerties  where he was active in the Saugerties American Legion, Lions Club and the Centerville Fire Company.  He also served as a supply pastor at Ruby Lutheran Church.

Hugh is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janice, one sister and one granddaughter, Donna Whitaker.  He was predeceased by sons, David and Philip; daughter, Shirley; and five brothers.

His Funeral Procession will form at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, May 7 to Atonement Lutheran Church, Market St., Saugerties, NY where his Funeral Service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m.

Friends will be received on Wednesday 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Corner of John & Lafayette Streets, Saugerties. Interment will be in the Blue Mt. Cemetery.
