| Lindsey Lesniewski | A leader who takes her job to heart and seeks ways to meet the needs of all stakeholders, Frazier Elementary Assistant Principal Lindsey Lesniewski was recently selected as the 2013 National Assistant Principal of the Year for Texas.
Lindsey will receive her award and a check for $2,500 at Summer Conference, thanks to a generous donation from Horace Mann. Lindsey's greatest strength lies in recognizing the importance in the connections between teachers, students and their parents. She truly believes in community and working together in order to achieve one common goal: student success," wrote Frazier Elementary Teacher Maria Arriaga in her reference letter.

Each year, the 20 TEPSA districts honor two leaders. The District TEPSAN of the Year is recognized for outstanding dedication and service to TEPSA. The District Assistant Principal of the Year recognizes a rising star who demonstrates leadership and skill while assisting the campus principal in the daily work of education.

TRS Bill Moves Forward SB 1458, the bill designed to bring TRS to actuarial soundness, passed out of the House last week. The bill now goes to conference committee to iron out the differences between the Senate and House versions. We'll have more details in tomorrow's Legislative Update at 1pm (Central).

Stop Summer Slide with H-E-B Reading Program
H-E-B is helping kids stay on track this summer with the H-E-Buddy Summer Reading program. Students are invited to:
3: Read three times a week. Children will be asked to log the number of books they finish over 10 weeks.
2: Visit 2 places over the summer. We have partnered with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and local museums for discounted or free admission.
1: Try 1 new fruit or vegetable each week. H-E-B will showcase an H-E-Buddy pick of the week in the produce section of our stores.
