Santa Margarita Leads the Way with National Merit Semi-Finalists
|
No Other Catholic High School in Orange County Has More Students Honored
Each year, the nation's juniors take the PSAT in preparation of later taking the SAT for college admissions, and also to compete for scholarships in the National Merit scholarship program.
This year, 5 Santa Margarita students were named as National Merit Semi-finalists:
William Mortimer of Coto de Caza
Daniel Semeniuta of Coto de Caza
Lauren Czaja of Coto de Caza
James Griffin of Foothill Ranch
Sebastian Reyes of Coto de Caza
Once again, Santa Margarita has more National Merit Semifinalists than any other Catholic high school in the county. These academically-talented high school seniors are five of approximately 16,000 students nationwide (out of 1.4 million taking the PSAT exam) that will have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth about $33 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition.
For more information about these five students and the National Merit program, please click here.
