LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL
|
|
Dear Parents:
As you know via the email message from the Diocese of Orange, Mr. Andy Sulick has been appointed President of SMCHS. He spoke to the faculty and staff yesterday morning expressing his happiness to be returning to the 'nest.' As a graduate of the Charter Class, 1991, the first graduating class of the school and as a former Eagle teacher and coach, we welcome him back and I know that you will enjoy meeting and getting to know him in the weeks and months ahead.
Click here to read more about Mr. Sulick.
As you were notified last month, Mr. Carey, our previous president, has elected to pursue other opportunities. We wish Paul and his family continued success in any future endeavors. My personal prayer is that our Lord will always hold them in His care and in His love.
Two weeks ago today the 2014-15 academic year began and with it much excitement about our increased enrollment, the one to one tablet program and the remodeled library facility amongst many other great things going on. We welcomed a number of new, dynamic teachers and staff members along with our transfer students and members of the Freshman Class. It looks to be a super year ahead; truly another great year to be an Eagle!
One comment about the one-to-one tablet PC program; like any new project of this magnitude, there are going to be glitches and problems. Your son/daughter may have experienced some difficulty and if so I am hopeful that our IT staff has taken care of those mechanical difficulties. Our Tech Center within the library is fully staffed and has been very helpful to students. In fact even the manufacturer of our tablets, Lenovo, has sent a company service tech to help out for the first few weeks of school.
Along with our administrative staff, I am very impressed with the level of use of the tablets by our students and teachers. As one walks the halls and looks in on classrooms, it is rewarding to see students doing their work on the tablets. Talking with students during these first couple weeks I always ask how they perceive it to be going. The response is good, especially in the enthusiasm I have received about the One Note program.
Our Ed Tech folks will be scheduling a parent night in September where the tablet will be discussed and some practical, hands on things will be shared with you. You will get a separate invitation to that event.
May our Lord continue to extend His many blessings and His love upon our school, its students, faculty and staff and upon you, the families of SMCHS. We also pray that His blessings are bestowed on Mr. Sulick as he takes up his responsibilities as SM President on September 8th.
May our charism of Caritas Christi be seen in each of us and all we do.
In Caritas Christi,
Ray Dunne
Principal
