A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL DUNNE
|
|
Dear Parents:
It is hard to believe that school has been out for over a month and that the Summer School classes are for the most part in their second sessions. Summer is moving along and I hope you are finding some time to enjoy the warm days.
As we move towards the beginning of the 2014-15 academic year, I will be sharing updates with you about the coming term. Today I would like to draw your attention to the Bell Schedules for the coming school year. We no longer will have a "fixed" zero period to start the day. This was originally designed to accommodate online classes, but the number of students taking those courses does not warrant the entire school being on a fixed period. The regular school day will begin as it has the last couple of years, at 7:30 a.m. There are a few schedules which allow for faculty/staff meetings to take place first thing so on those days students do not begin until 8:30 a.m. The School Calendar lists the bell schedule for each day.
The new school year will see a change in our ETV (Eagle Television) programing. Rather than every day the ETV show will be an in-depth program once a week giving the students in the TV Production class the opportunity to produce feature stories and spotlight events more than they have been able to do so. With each student having a tablet PC, they will be instructed at the start of the first period of the day to log in and review the announcements for the day particularly focusing in on those pertinent to clubs, teams and organizations they belong to. Those announcements will also be available on our website.
If you have not already signed up for the Table PC training for your son/daughter please make sure you do so as it is a requirement of all students and it is at the training that each student will receive their computer.
As tomorrow is the 238th anniversary of the birth of our nation, may we give thanks and praise to our Lord for the many blessings He has bestowed on the American people and upon our nation. He inspired those who declared our independence and guided generations in building our nation. May we always live in gratitude to Him for the great gift we all share of being an American! Happy Fourth of July!
Caritas Christi,
Ray Dunne
Principal
