Class of 2014 Passes Their Legacy to the Next Generation of Eagles
Accomplishments of Santa Margarita in 2013-2014 Unsurpassed


On May 30th, Santa Margarita saw its 406-member Senior Class of 2014 graduate at the Bren Center on the campus of UCI.  Their legacy adds to the rich history of Santa Margarita Catholic High School.  The 2013-2014 school year was another remarkable year for the school.  With the Class of 2014 leading the way, Santa Margarita continues to show why it remains as one of the best high schools in the U.S.  Some of the school's accomplishments this year: 

$33.2 million in college scholarships offered to the Class of 2014

61 student athletes continuing to play their respective sports in college

99% of the graduating class continuing their education in college

91% of the graduating class attending a 4 year school

100% of the graduating class completed their Christian service projects

33% of the graduating class had a cumulative GPA of 4.0 or higher

15 National Merit Commended Students

92 AP (Advanced Placement) Scholars

6 CIF Team Championships

9 CIF Individual Championships

Talon Theater's Pippin Wins M.A.C.Y. Award for Best Musical of the Year

Eagle Eye student newspaper ranked as the #9 school newspaper in the U.S.

Cheer and Song teams crowned 2014 USA National Champions

#38 Private High School in the U.S. according to the Washington Post  

Highest Rated Catholic High School in Orange County (Washington Post)

Record Setting Seasons for SMCHS Athletics
CIF Swimming Champs 14

Two more athletic teams added to the incredible successes of Santa Margarita student/athletes in 2013-2014.  On May 17th, the Girls Swim team raced to the CIF Division 1 Swimming & Diving Championships at Riverside City College.  The team won 4 of the 11 events including the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays, both in school record times.  Junior Katie McLaughlin won 2 individual events, including the 100 butterfly where she shattered the national record.  Overall, the Girls Swim team finished 7-0 in dual meets, won their 15th consecutive Trinity League championship, and were ranked #1 in Orange County from start to finish in 2014.  Click here for more information.

The Eagles Baseball team capped off a remarkable school year with the program's first CIF championship.  The team defeated Foothill 3-1 at Dodger Stadium to claim the CIF Division 1 title--the most competitive CIF division to compete in.  Senior Griffin Canning pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts with the team scoring all 3 runs in the top of the 6th inning.  The team finished their season with an overall 20-10-1 record and were ranked as the #1 baseball team in Orange County by the Orange Country Register and #4 in California and #37 in the United States according to Max Preps.  Click here for more details about their championship season.

6 CIF Team Titles in One Year Establishes High Water Mark in O.C.


Since Santa Margarita first opened its doors in 1987, no other high school in Southern California can match the athletic success of the Eagles.  In fact, SMCHS has won more CIF team titles (53) and team league championships (181) than any other high school in Southern California since 1987.  

This year, the Eagles enjoyed incredible success with the following CIF championships.  Congrats to all.

One-to-One Tablet/PC Training For All Students
Sign Up Online For Your Training Session of Choice


This summer, Santa Margarita is launching our one-to-one tablet/PC program for all of our students.  All students are required to attend a summer training session prior to the start of the new school year.  You must register for one of the training sessions which may be done on our website here.

Final Transcript Request--Class of 2018
Graduating 8th Graders are Asked to Send Final Transcripts to SM
Report Card

For graduating 8th grade students entering SMCHS in the Fall, we ask that you request your current school to send us a copy of your final transcripts. These transcripts should include the final grades from the last semester/trimester of 8th grade.  Your school's registrar may send these transcripts directly to our Admissions Office:

For Class of 2018 Incoming Freshman Students Who Have Been Accepted to SMCHS

If your student has been accepted to the incoming freshman Class of 2018, we have a webpage on our website just for you.  This website contains answers to questions and provides information about what takes place next on your journey to becoming an Eagle.  We will also be updating this website over the next several months to keep you informed of the latest information on starting your high school years as an Eagle.

Catholic Parish Verification Forms Being Accepted
Catholic Tuition Rate Received with Receipt of Catholic Verification from your Parish Pastor
Diocese of Orange

For students beginning school next Fall, if your family is registered at a Catholic parish in the Diocese of Orange, your family will receive the Catholic tuition discount by asking your pastor to sign and complete the Parish Verification Form.  The Parish Verification form may be downloaded here.

The determination of Catholic verification takes place at the parishes (not at the high school), so your pastor will be able make the determination, sign the form and send it directly to our business office. Once this form is received, your family will receive the Catholic tuition discount for the 2014-2015 school year.

School Bus Program Expanding with New Route and Bus Stops

The Santa Margarita Bus Transportation program is expanding once again, adding new stops and a new route to better serve our communities to the north, south, and now west of our campus.  Taking the bus to SM each day is a great way to save on gas bills and make new friends.

For 2014-2015, the 3 routes we are offering will connect the following areas to our school with stops in the following communities:

South Route #1:  
San Clemente
San Juan Capistrano
Dana Point
Laguna Niguel
Ladera Ranch

South Route #2:
