A note to our senior families: Next week is the last Eagle Update you will receive as we wrap up our spring sports season and end-of-the-year accolades. We want to keep in touch with our alumni parents, so you will occasionally receive emails from the school keeping you connected to the Eagle family. Please don't unsubscribe from our email list as then we can no longer send you any school emails. Thank you!
BASEBALL ADVANCES TO CIF CHAMPIONSHIP AT DODGER STADIUM

Congratulations to our Eagle baseball team for advancing to the Division 1 CIF Championship game, their first championship game since 2002. The Eagles defeated crosstown rival Trabuco Hills 3-0 in the semifinal game Tuesday night at Blair Field in Long Beach. The Eagles will face the Knights of Foothill High School this Friday, June 6 at Dodger Stadium at 8:00pm. The Eagles are looking to make history with a win Friday night. If the Eagles are able to lock up the CIF Championship, it would be the sixth team title of the 2013-2014 school year which would be the most championships earned in one school year. SMCHS HIRES TWO ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS

With the upcoming retirement of Assistant Principal Dr. Mary Beth Dougherty after 27 years of service, SMCHS is pleased to announce the hiring of two new assistant principals - one who will oversee academics and curriculum and the other overseeing faculty and instruction. The new positions take effect July 1, 2014. The reorganization is in accordance with the school's five-year strategic plan. Sean Basford, currently Santa Margarita's Director of Assessment and Educational Technology, has been appointed assistant principal of academics and curricular affairs. Shawna Pautsch, who has been the Assistant Principal of Rosary High School since 2005 and will remain in that role through the end of June, was hired as Santa Margarita's assistant principal of faculty and instructional affairs.
