SMCHS BUS PROGRAM

 

SMCHS offers bus transportation during the regular school year. To best serve our families, our buses transport through South and North Orange County.

 

SMCHS offers two South OC routes and one North County route. South OC Route #1 begins in San Clemente and stops in San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point, Laguna Niguel and Ladera Ranch. South OC Route #2 begins in the Newport Coast area and stops in Aliso Viejo, Laguna Niguel, Nellie Gail, and Mission Viejo. The North Orange County route begins in Yorba Linda and stops in the Tustin and Irvine areas. The buses pick up students before school and return them on their original route to their pick up locations after school.

BUSINESS OFFICE REMINDER

Tuition Payment

 

If you have not completed your tuition payment for the 2013-14 school year, please remit your payment to the Business Office now.  All tuition and fees should be paid in full at this time. Senior graduation will be in jeopardy and returning students will not be considered registered if there is a balance due for the tuition for the 2013-14 school year. If you have not re-registered and do intend to have your student return to SMCHS in August, please do so at this time.  Click Here to Register. 

SAND VOLLEYBALL SEASON WRAPS UP 

The Santa Margarita Girls' Sand Volleyball team finished their inaugural season last week. The Eagles had 18 girls on the team competing in both the Varsity and JV divisions of the Interscholastic Beach Volleyball League. The future looks bright with the JV squad winning some great matches this season while the Varsity squad competed in the Orange Division and qualified for playoffs before falling to Marymount, the 1st place team in the Westside Division. The girls had a wonderful experience this year and look forward to getting even better next year.

CLASS OF 2014 DATES AND INFORMATION

Senior Awards
 
Be sure to save the date for our 2014 Senior Awards banquet which will be held in the Moiso Family Pavilion on Tuesday, May 20th at 7:00pm.  This special night is to celebrate graduating seniors obtaining honors received from Santa Margarita and honors and scholarships received from colleges and universities. Parents are urged to attend and will be notified this week by email if their child is receiving an award. Click Here for more information.

Senior Yearbook Luncheon

 

The senior yearbook signing luncheon will be held at 11:00 a.m. May 27th in the Moiso Pavilion/Strader Grotto. A catered lunch and entertainment will be provided. No ticket is required as admission is included with your paid Graduation fee. Students are asked to wear or bring a college sweatshirt/t-shirt of the school they will be attending for a group photo! All students are also encouraged to bring memorabilia such as photos, arts and sports programs, spirit items and any other special tokens for the class time capsule! 

 

Grad Night 

 

Grad Night 2014 begins at 10:00pm on Friday, May 30thGrad Night tickets may be purchased online. Permission forms are online and must be completed and turned in no later than May 22nd at 3:00pm. Spring Dance Concert  

Come watch our Dancers soar at the 2014 Spring Dance Concert. The Spring Dance Concert will be held May 14-17 at 7:00pm in the Eagle Dome.  Tickets are available online. Click Here to purchase tickets. 

IB Fees and Paperwork for 2014-2015  

 

An IB course invoice and student agreement/contract was mailed to the home of all Class of 2015 and 2016 IB Candidates on April 25th. Per the instructions on the invoice, please submit your payment in full to Mrs. Chris Rodda in the SMCHS Business Office by May 15th, cash or check only.  Make your check payable to SMCHS and attach the invoice and signed agreement/contract (one page double sided document). No payment will be accepted without your signed contract attached. Students enrolled in Business Management HL will be billed for the course at a later date. Contact the IB Office for questions (949) 766-6034.

Yearbook Distribution 
 
Yearbooks will be distributed all day Friday, May 16th outside the B building in the parking lot. A photo ID is needed to pick up your book. If you do not have an ID we will look you up in the Yearbook! If you are not able to get your Talon tomorrow books will be available for pick up in B112.

After May 21st it will be assumed that any unclaimed books are not wanted. All unclaimed books may be sold and money refunded to the purchasing parents.

IB Junior and Senior Class Plays  
 

The IB Theatre Seniors will present scenes from Tennessee Williams' "A Streetcar Named Desire" and the junior class will present "Savage Love" by Sam Shepherd in the Talon Black Box Theatre at 6:00pm tomorrow, May 16th. These performances are student directed and designed. Admission is free. Immediately following the class plays will be the 4th Annual TAPA Cabaret Night. Students will perform their one person autobiographical musical acts in an intimate coffee house environment in the Talon Black Box Theatre.  Admission is $10.00 at the door.

Spring Physicals 
 
Spring physicals will be held this Saturday, May 17th from 8:00am until 11:00am in the Moiso Pavilion (gym). Please arrive before 11:00am to be let in. To save time, please have all paper work ready and properly completed with cash or check in the amount of $25.00 made out to SMCHS upon arrival. Physical forms and head injury information sheets can be downloaded from the Athletic Training Office web page. Click Here for the trainers' website. These documents will cover students for the 2014-2015 academic year. Physicals are good for 365 days, get them done and they are good for the whole year!
Taste of the Tavern 

Come support our SMCHS Ice Hockey program at Selanne's Steak Tavern on Saturday, May 17th from Noon until 3 p.m. for "Taste of the Tavern." All proceeds from this event will benefit our nationally-recognized Ice Hockey program. To purchase your tickets, Click Here.
Calling All Eagle Scouts and Girl Scouts
 
The Communications Department would like to publicize Eagles Scouts who recently earned the rank of Eagle and recognize our Girls Scouts who have achieved the Girl Scout Gold Award in the past year. Please send in your information no later than Sunday, May 18th. Click Here to find out more.
Attention Instrumental | Percussion | Choir Students
 
This coming Monday, May 19th, there will be a representative from a tour group that will give you information for the 2015 Summer Tour Trips to Austria and Ireland.  The Choir Ireland tour presentation will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Choir room.  Instrumental and percussion Austria tour information will be right after from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the band room.  
Prom 2014 

 

The "Wizard of Oz" is this year's Prom theme. Prom will take place on Thursday May 22nd from 7:00pm-12:00am inside the Disneyland Hotel's Grand Ballroom. Tickets and Dance contracts are available online, Click HereStudents in grades 11 and 12 are invited to attend this event.  Students in grade 10 may attend this event only if invited by an SM student in grade 11 or 12. Tickets are on sale and start at $125 per person until tomorrow, May 16th at midnight, ticket prices go up on May 17th to $145 through May 20th at 3:00pm. Tickets include dinner and pictures. No sales after 3:00pm on May 20th. You must turn in a copy of your receipt and dance contract before you choose your table. 

Talon Theatre Banquet, Thespian Initiation & Officer Installation
 

Students and families of all Talon Theatre are invited to the 24th Annual Talon Theatre Awards Banquet on Friday, May 23rd at 6:00pm in the Eagle Banquet Facility. Come celebrate the numerous accomplishments of these talented theatre students!  RSVP to Jennifer Wines by May 16th.  Dinner is $20 per person.

Kairos 112-116 Alumni

 

Seniors if you attended a Kairos please join us for a Kairos 4th night on Tuesday, May 27th in the Grotto. We will start the night with free pizza at 6:30pm. Get your small groups to join other Kairos Alum for a night of fellowship and worship lead by Duncan Hume, Patrick Driscoll, Billy Haines, Katie Stanton and Mr. C. Bring a blanket and $10.00 if you want to purchase a tee shirt. Live the 4th!

Fiesta de Solano

 

Fiesta de Solano is back and will be held Friday, July 11-13th. Parents, are you hosting a Prom or Graduation get together (after party) at your home? Dress Drive | Marine Corps Ball

 

This week will be a Camp Pendleton Dress Drive for the Marine Corps Ball. This Dress drive provides an opportunity for Marine Corp wives and the women of the Marine Corps to attend the formal Marine Corps Ball. Please consider donating any homecoming, winter formal or prom dresses in any size and style.  Please drop the dresses in the boxes in the front or the back of the school, or Campus Ministry all next week.

SAT Prep Course

 

SMCHS offers exceptional SAT Prep Classes three times a year:  September (24 hr.), January/February (50 hr.) and April (24 hr.).  This course offers students convenience, teachers you know and trust, quality for less. Seniors | Christian Service Hours

 

If your senior did not complete the required 40 hours of service as part of their freshman and sophomore service project, please contact Ms. Dzida. You should have received an email January 15, 2014 if your senior is in deficit.

SMCHS Junior Eagle Squad

 

Pep Squad is excited to announce SM's Junior Eagle Squad! SM Jr. Eagle Squad is open to ALL future Eagle, ages 5-13. The team works directly with the SM Pep Squad and Coaching Staff. Participants perform traditional SM cheers and routines at multiple SM events including football and basketball games. Participation includes SM Junior Eagle Squad cheer uniform, poms, cheer/dance camp, cheer/dance clinics, halftime performances and much more. Click Here for more information.  

Educational Technology

 

Students and families, the launch of the One-to-One Program at SMCHS is upon us! Students will receive their Tablet PC at one of our distribution/training sessions at the end of the summer. There will be sessions on July 22, 29, 31, and August 5, 7, and 12. Although students must only attend one session, attendance is mandatory. Students' parents or guardians will have received an email this week with instructions on how to sign up online for a distribution/training session. In case you missed it, Click Here to sign up. These sessions will fill up on a first-come, first-served basis, so sign up early to get the session you want!

Summer School

 

Do you have any D's or F's that still need to be remediated? Do you have any Health or P.E. credits that still must be completed? Don't forget that you can easily complete them during summer school! All our summer school classes are conveniently timed and scheduled so as to allow students to still enjoy summer activities while simultaneously taking one of our many academic offerings and/or P.E. To register, parents should visit the Parent Portal. If you have questions on what class to remediate, please see your counselor. For any registration questions, please see Mr. Basford or Mr. Barry in the Counseling Office, or reach them by email at SummerSession@smhs.org

Scrip

 

Scrip sales are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 7:30-9:30am and Wednesday from 1:30-3:30pm. Purchase scrip for Fathers' Day, Grads, and Newlyweds!! All IB Class of 2015 & 2016 Parents, Students and Teachers

 

As the school year comes to a close and we look toward the 2014-2015 school year, the IB Booster Board would like to remind you about a great option for your school uniforms. We are proud to offer the school uniform approved International Baccalaureate "polo/golf" style shirts for men and women of all ages and sizes. As you plan for the upcoming school year and are thinking about ordering and replenishing uniforms, please keep this option in mind for your school wear.
