2014 Carson Scholar Award Recognition

Congratulations to our five Eagles for earning Carson Scholar Award recognition. 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program
Nineteen SMCHS students will receive recognition in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program next fall as seniors. Annual IB Ice Cream Social
All Class of 2014, 2015 & 2016 Full Diploma and Certificate/Courses IB Candidates are invited to participate in the Annual IB Ice Cream Social tomorrow, Friday, May 2nd immediately after school in the Grotto. This is an opportunity for our Class of 2014 and 2015 candidates to gather in community as we prepare to launch into the May exams and an opportunity to welcome the Class of 2016 to the IB Programme. Mothers Club Fashion Show
The Fashion Show is this Sunday, May 4th! View the invitation Here. Online ticket sales are closed, but tickets can still be purchased at the Front Office until the end of the day tomorrow. Calling all seniors! Please come participate (FREE) and be a part of the Parade of Colleges! Please contact Mary Haines and attend a one-hour practice Saturday evening. All seniors participating in the parade of colleges will then show up at 1 p.m. Sunday wearing jeans and a sweatshirt or t-shirt representing the college they are attending.

Ice Hockey Fundraiser at Cosmos
Mangia! Mangia! Enjoy fabulous Italian food while supporting the Santa Margarita Varsity and Junior Varsity Eagles Ice Hockey teams on Tuesday, May 6th at Cosmos Italian Kitchen in Las Flores from 5:00 to 9:00pm, 20% of any dine in or eat out sales will be donated to the ice hockey program. Is Your Teen at Risk?
Being a teenager can be difficult. Teens are often confronted with situations they don't know how to handle, or end up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Being a parent to a teenager can be equally as challenging. Many parents wonder whether their son or daughter may be challenged with issues like alcohol and drug use, or unsafe Internet use. Both teens and parents can find answers to important questions at "Is Your Teen at Risk?" This forum on Thursday May 8th, offered through the city of Rancho Santa Margarita, addresses issues facing our teens and provides information to help parents make informed decisions about their children. Tuition and Fees
All tuition and fees must be paid no later than Friday, May 9th for the purpose of graduation and re-registration. All payments received after May 1, 2014 must be made with cash or cashier's check.

Mother-Son Social
Join us for dessert, dancing and prizes at the "Beauties and the Beats" Mother-Son Social from 7-9 p.m. on May 9th in the Moiso Family Pavilion. The cost is $20. Attire: Sundresses, shorts and jeans. DJ Chris Entertainment will provide the entertainment. There will be contests and prizes!

-Waste Fundraiser

Reduce your carbon footprint and support the IT Program by bringing down your E-Waste to Santa Margarita Catholic High School for an E-Waste Collection event on Saturday, May 10th from 9:00-2:30pm. E-Waste is defined as any electronic equipment that has reached its "end-of-life" or is no longer being used, whether in working or non-working condition. To find out more, Click Here.

Spring Physicals
Spring physicals will be held on Saturday, May 17th from 8:00am until 11:00am in the Moiso Pavilion (gym). Please arrive before 11:00am to be let in. To save time, please have all paper work ready and properly completed with cash or check in the amount of $25.00 made out to SMCHS upon arrival. Physical forms and head injury information sheets can be downloaded from the Athletic Training Office web page. Click Here for the trainers' website. Taste of the Tavern
Come support our SMCHS Ice Hockey program at Selanne's Steak Tavern on Saturday, May 17th from Noon until 3:00 for "Taste of the Tavern." All proceeds from this event will benefit our nationally-recognized Ice Hockey program. To purchase your tickets, Click Here.

Senior Awards
Be sure to save the date for our 2014 Senior Awards banquet which will be held in the Moiso Family Pavilion on Tuesday, May 20th at 7:00pm. This special night is to celebrate graduating seniors obtaining honors received from Santa Margarita and honors and scholarships received from colleges and universities. Parents are urged to attend. Graduation Fee and Grad Night Fees
 A reminder to Class of 2014 parents, Graduation fees of $300 are due now. Thank you to those Class of 2014 families who have already paid this mandatory fee. To pay your Graduation fees, Click Here . Grad Night fees of $225 are due by Friday, May 2nd. The price will go up to $300 after May 2. Taos, New Mexico Service Opportunity

Santa Margarita students are invited to participate in our 2nd annual community service trip to Taos, New Mexico from June 22-28. This will fulfill all of your junior or senior Lumen Christi Service Project hours. In Taos, students engage in gardening, traditional Native American arts and activities, as well as hiking and rafting in the area, Email Ms. Dzida for more information.

Calling All Seniors! College Acceptance Letters Needed for College Wall
We love to brag about our seniors and all of their amazing accomplishments including the colleges they get accepted to. Please bring color copies of your college acceptance letters for display on our "college wall." Acceptance letters can be turned into the Front Office. The Parent Teacher Guild encourages SM families to protect our children from the pressures to use drugs or alcohol. As a Safe Home parent, you are encouraged to communicate with your student about your Safe Homes commitment, know your students' friends and communicate with the parents of your students' friends, know where your students are and let them know where you are, have your student call you if they are "uncomfortable" and want to be picked up and be awake when your student comes home at night.
