Dear Friends of Santa Margarita Catholic High School,
While the school year may be winding down, the students of Santa Margarita continue to soar higher than ever. The Arts had an extraordinary semester, with the entire Performing Arts department participating in a huge performance at the Segerstrom Concert Hall and a successful run of the musical, PIPPIN, by our theatre program. Senior Joanna Pisano even took her love for the Arts to the State Capital, where she advocated the importance of the arts in education for Youth in Theatre Day.
Our sophomore class made excellent hosts at the Special Olympics, where SMCHS welcomed over 500 special needs athletes. In the academics world, our MUN program recently returned from the MUN Beijing Conference, where they represented the United States and received more awards than any other school in attendance. In the winter season alone, SMCHS garnered four CIF championships in Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Girls Water Polo and Girls Soccer, as well as two individual CIF champions in Wrestling.
During this Lenten Season, we are called to remember the ultimate sacrifice that our Lord made for us. Every day we encourage our students to make the most of this sacrifice by using the gifts they were blessed with and every day they continue to go above and beyond our expectations.
On behalf of myself and the entire Santa Margarita community, I'd like to wish you and your family a happy and blessed Easter.
Sincerely,
Paul Carey
SMCHS President
