Winter Sports Playoff Picture

Your Winter Sports Playoff Landscape

With two individual CIF Champions already crowned this winter, every winter sports teams is still in the hunt for CIF titles and gaining momentum. Girls water polo is set up to defend their CIF Championship title this Saturday in a rematch versus Trinity League rival Mater Dei at Irvine High School; boys' soccer plays today at home at 3:00 pm in the quarterfinals against the top seeded Loyola High School; our top-seeded boys basketball team plays at home tomorrow night in the semifinals against La Mirada High School; our two individual wrestling CIF Champions compete tomorrow in the CIF-SS Masters Meet at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario; girls soccer plays tomorrow at Villa Park High School in the quarterfinals; and our girls basketball team has steamrolled their way to the semifinals with an average margin of victory of 27 points, they will play at La Canada High School on Saturday. Boys Track and Field Fees Due Tomorrow

 

This is a reminder to our boys track & field families that the participation fee for the 2014 season is due tomorrow, February 28th. Ash Wednesday Mass

 

We will be celebrating our Ash Wednesday Mass on Wednesday, March 5th in the Moiso Family Pavilion from 8:55-10:35am with Bishop Kevin W. Vann presiding. All guests and visitors are welcome to join in the celebration, please check in at the front office to get your visitors badge. Students are to be in mass dress on this day.                               Scholarship Application Deadline Approaching

 

We currently have $45,000 available in privately funded scholarships for the 2014-2015 school year. In addition, $26,600 in scholarships are available to the class of 2014 for their college tuition. These scholarships have been made available through the generosity, love and support of Catholic education of alumni, parents and friends of our school.  Thank you to all who contribute to our scholarship program, especially those in memory of our beloved alumni and friends of SMCHS.  To find out more and apply, Click Here.

Youth Football Instructional Camp


Santa Margarita Eagles' Youth Football Camp is open to all campers in the 6th through 8th grade on March 8th, 15th, and 22nd.  The camp will be fun and challenging while promoting the proper fundamentals of football. The Eagles' Football Camp is perfect for all levels of athlete from novice to experience. Athletes will leave with a better understanding of proper techniques, improved fundamentals, increased confidence, and the specific drills needed to continually improve football skills. Performing & Visual Arts presents HeART & Song

 

The SMCHS Performing and Visual Arts programs proudly present for one night only, Broadway leading lady Eden Espinosa, and the SMCHS performing and visual artists will gather to present beautiful art and music in the magnificent setting of the Segerstrom Concert Hall and lobby on March 20th.  The concert will showcase a wide variety of musical ensembles including the award winning choral program, under the direction of Francisco Calvo, the South Orange County Honor Choir featuring singers from many different parishes and schools, and the highly respected SMCHS Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Michael Whang. The Eagle Classic Golf Tournament 

FORE!!! The Eagle Classic Golf Tournament will be held Monday April 28th at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club and we are looking for golfers and sponsors to get involved. CAMPUS MINISTRY

Special Olympics


The sophomore class project this year is working with Special Olympics on Friday, March 7th. Ms. Dzida and your student's religion teacher will be preparing the sophomores for that day. This will be a track and field event starting at 8:00am until 2:00pm, jeans are allowed with an SMCHS shirt. Parent volunteers are welcome and if you are available to help out, please contact Ms. Dzida 

RCIA

 

The process called RCIA-Inquiry-Rite of Catholic Initiation for Adults is offered to Santa Margarita students who  are seeking to become Catholic.  This special formation has been adapted and offered to juniors and seniors who, after they complete their study, will receive the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist at Easter Vigil at San Francisco Solano Parish. Please contact Nancy Hormuth in Campus Ministry.                   

Morning Mass

 

Morning mass is offered Tuesday through Friday from 6:55-7:25am in the Sacred Heart Chapel. All students, faculty, staff and parents are invited to celebrate mass with Father Randy Sampinto. What great habit to start this new year!

Practice SAT/ACT Results

 

Any student who was unable to pick up their test results from the Practice SAT/ACT taken on February 8th should contact C2 Education directly to receive the results. They will be available until March 15th. Please contact your counselor if you have any questions. Thank you to all who participated. More details to come on another practice test opportunity this April.              

Scrip

 

Scrip sales are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:30-9:30am and Wednesday from 1:30-3:30pm.  For information regarding the SMCHS scrip program Click Here. IMPORTANT: Credit card purchases at Vons/Pavilions WILL NOT earn eScrip contributions; only purchases with Debit Card, Check, Cash, SmartCheck, Vons/Pavilions Gift Card, WIC, CalFresh will earn eScrip contributions. You may purchase Vons/Pavilions gift cards through the SMCHS scrip program.  If you have any questions or wish to place a large scrip order, contact Catherine Hassen, SM Scrip Coordinator, at 949-766-6004.                

Parent Teacher Guild

 

PTG is comprised of all parents, administration, faculty and staff of Santa Margarita Catholic High School.  Membership in the PTG is automatic.  The PTG supports the SM community in its Christian philosophy, written policies, designated programs and other specific needs.  One such sponsored program is Safe Homes.  The Parent Teacher Guild is encouraging all SM families to join together in protecting our children from the pressures to use drugs or alcohol.
