Eye Anatomy and Disorder Seminar
Dr. Don Minkler, MD, professor at USC and UCI, will be speaking on preventing sports-related eye injuries in the Science Lecture Hall tomorrow, Friday, February 7th, from 2:30-3:30, with Q&A until 4:00pm. Come, learn how to protect your eyesight while participating in sports and to enjoy the pizza, pretzels, candy, and drinks.

Valentasia
Get ready to celebrate this Saturday, February 8th! DOORS OPEN AT 5 p.m. - Discounted Valet Parking rate $10 - our entrance is at the Monarch Ballroom Promenade (straight ahead from Valet).
AVOID the line upon arrival at the St. Regis! Be sure to visit the Valentasia website and "Q-check" (pre-register your credit card). Our goal is to have 100% of our guests signed up for Q-check by Friday.
Pre-registered guests will avoid the registration line and get an early start on the cocktail reception (including complimentary hors d'oeuvres) and fabulous silent auction! Bars will accept cash and credit cards. Visit the Valentasia website and make a list of items you want (after you Q-check), so you can come prepared to bid. Rally your friends to make some "group purchases!" See you at the St. Regis!

The annual Sophomore College Night will be hosted by the Counseling office tonight, February 6th at 7:00pm in the dome. PLAN testing results will be distributed as well as guest speakers presenting on college testing timeline and strategy, the basics on financial aid and planning on paying for college and a revisit of the Naviance program and how it can help you prepare for the college admission process. Are you signed up for the Practice SAT/ACT this Saturday, February 8th? If so, please remember to arrive at school for check in at 7:30am. Testing will be in the S building and you must bring 2, #2 pencils and a calculator. Testing will conclude at approximately 12:00 noon. Parents are encouraged to attend the information session beginning at 11:30am in the SLH to understand general information about the tests that were given and the results. Full score results will be distributed on Thursday, February 13th from 2:30-3:30pm on the 3rd floor of the Athletic Building. Good luck and thank you for participating. Parenting in the Internet Age
Mark your calendar for our next evening of Fellowship in Faith on Wednesday, February 12th with our guest speaker, Chris Mueller discussing some of the challenges of parenting in the internet age, where he will give concrete examples of how we as Christian parents can meet those challenges. Grad Night Parent Meeting
Grad Night 2014 is an all-night party, organized by senior class parents to ensure a safe, drug and alcohol-free graduation celebration. All Junior and Senior parents are encouraged to attend a Grad Night Parent Meeting on Wednesday, February 12th at 6:30pm in the Science Lecture hall. If you are unable to attend this meeting, please contact activities@smhs.org to learn more about volunteering to help organize this event.

Freshman Advisement Night
Freshman Advisement Night will take place Thursday, February 13th, in the DOME at 7:00pm. The ACT/EXPLORE Test results will be distributed and reviewed. Topics to be presented include but are not limited to academic planning for the next 3 years, transition from freshmen to sophomore counseling, college planning, Naviance Program, academic progress and more. Campus Ministry is offering ROC FEST (Relying on Christ) Youth Assemblies on Thursday, February 13th in the morning. Marc Hart from Life Teen will be our guest speaker. Francis Cabildo, Assistant Director to Campus Ministry, will lead us in praise and worship music.

Morning Mass
Morning mass is offered Tuesday through Friday from 6:55-7:25am in the Sacred Heart Chapel. All students, faculty, staff and parents are invited to celebrate mass with Father Randy Sampinto. What great habit to start this new year!

We are taking reservations for March 24-27 K#116. This is the last Kairos for the Class of 2014. Please do not wait to sign up for these retreats, they fill up fast. Special Olympics
The sophomore class project this year is working with Special Olympics on Friday, March 7th. Ms. Dzida and your student's religion teacher will be preparing the sophomores for that day. This will be a track and field event starting at 8:00am until 2:00pm, jeans are allowed with an SMCHS shirt. Parent volunteers are welcome and if you are available to help out, please contactMs. Dzida.

Every Tuesday, we offer Eucharistic Adoration in the Sacred Heart Chapel from 8:30-2:00pm. At 9:00am we pray the rosary, so bring your rosary beads and pray along with us. Please contact Nancy Hormuth in Campus Ministry to be added to the Eucharistic Adoration Group where you will receive additional information.

The process called RCIA-Inquiry-Rite of Catholic Initiation for Adults is offered to Santa Margarita students who are seeking to become Catholic. This special formation has been adapted and offered to juniors and seniors who, after they complete their study, will receive the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist at Easter Vigil at San Francisco Solano Parish. Financial Assistance and Scholarship Applications for the 2014-15 School Year
At Santa Margarita Catholic High School it is our desire that every student have the opportunity to receive a well-rounded Catholic education. With the rising costs of education, we are committed to helping families provide a Santa Margarita education for their student(s). SMCHS offers awards in the form of financial assistance and scholarships, these are awards that do not have to be repaid. Financial assistance awards are based on financial need. Additionally, privately-funded scholarships are based on financial need, academic excellence, leadership, service, talent and other criteria.
