Make Up Placement Test, Saturday, February 15, 2014, 7:45 am

Exam For Incoming Freshmen (Class of 2018)

HSPT

Students looking to enroll in the Freshman Class of 2018 (current 8th grade students) and were unable to attend our 1st placement test in January are asked to take the HSPT (High School Placement Test) on Saturday, February 15, 2014.  The exam begins at 8 am and concludes by 12:30 pm (please arrive at the front of the school off of Antonio Parkway no later than 7:45 am so that the test may begin on time).

In order to sign up for the exam, a student needs to have created a school application (you may begin an online application here) and submit the $50 application fee.  Once a student has applied to Santa Margarita and paid the application fee, he/she will automatically have a seat saved for the HSPT Placement Test.  Applications and the application fee will be accepted on the morning of the exam on February 15th.

On the day of the exam, we ask each student to check in at the front desk of the school. All testing materials will be provided, including a snack, so students do not need to bring anything on the day of the exam.  No calculators are allowed on the test.  If a student has special dietary needs, they may bring their own snack on the day of the test.

Students that have a diagnosed learning disability and would like to arrange for extended testing time may contact Mary Manese, the Director of our Auxiliary Studies Program.  Mary may be contacted at manesem@smhs.org. Extended testing time will be the only testing accommodation available at the Makeup Exam.

The HSPT is made up of 5 multiple choice sections and a written essay. Breaks will be given throughout the exam, including a 30 minute snack break.

SM Students Win 2nd Straight Student/Faculty Basketball Game

A Day of Free Dress On the Line at Our Winter Sports Rally

What has become a yearly tradition, our Winter Sports Rally featured a highly competitive basketball game pitting the SM faculty versus the SM students.  At stake--a day of free dress!

For the second year in a row, the students took the trophy posting a 34-29 victory.  The energy of the crowd was intense and even the world famous Laker Girls were on hand to cheer the competitors on.  While the students were enjoying the spoils of victory, the faculty has already set their sights on the rematch and are making preparations for redemption in 2015 (it takes that long to get in shape)!

Stunning New Track Rivals University Track Surfaces

Resurfacing Completed in Time for Track Season

The phrase state-of-the-art is often overused, but these words absolutely apply to the new track surface installed at SMCHS this past winter.

Fresh from resurfacing the track at UCLA, the company hired by SMCHS to re-do the Eagle track created a surface that is on par with the best track surfaces at the top universities across the country.

Check out the photos of the "Eagle Blue" surface as it became the new "Home of the Eagles" here
