Don't miss out on the great auction items and a chance to purchase a hidden treasure for your student (psst...each hidden treasure includes a Non-Uniform Dress Pass!) Already purchased your ticket?  Please take a moment to pre-register for the auction - visit the Valentasia website and click on "Q-Check".  Make sure you create your personal WISH LIST of items you want to bid on in the silent and live auctions.  Check back often to preview exciting auction items and other event updates.
Catholic Schools Week

As a part of Catholic Schools week, SMCHS will be collecting new or gently used blankets for Catholic Charities of Orange County from January 27-31st. Peer Ministry will be in the front and back of school with boxes to collect donations during the pick-up and drop-off. 

CSW Photo Contest

  

Show your SMCHS spirit! Submit a photo that displays Faith, Knowledge, or Service. Three winners will be selected and awarded $100 in scrip to the store of your choice! PLUS all entries will have an opportunity to be featured on our school website. This contest is also open to the SMCHS Faculty and Staff. Photos must be uploaded by Thursday, January 30th by the end of the school day. CSF

  

The next California Scholarship Federation (CSF) application period for all grade levels will be from January 21st-31st.  CSF is an academic honors organization comprised of students who have met the CSF grade requirements. Eligibility is determined by students' grades from their most recent high school semester report card. Click Here for the application and additional details on the California Scholarship Federation.

Sophomore College Night

  

The annual Sophomore College Night will be hosted by the Counseling office next Thursday, February  6th at 7:00pm in the dome. PLAN testing results will be distributed as well as guest speakers presenting on college testing timeline and strategy, the basics on financial aid and planning on paying for college and a revisit of the Naviance program and how it can help you prepare for the college admission process. Practice SAT/ACT

  

The SAT / ACT Practice Test is coming up on February 8th for freshmen, sophomores and juniors, currently enrolled at SMCHS only. The test will be in the S-Building and the registration deadline is Wednesday, February 8th. Click Here to register and obtain more information.

Grad Night Parent Meeting

  

Grad Night 2014 is an all-night party, organized by senior class parents to ensure a safe, drug and alcohol-free graduation celebration.  All Junior and Senior parents are encouraged to attend a Grad Night Parent Meeting on Wednesday, February 12th at 6:30pm in the Science Lecture hall. If you are unable to attend this meeting, please contact activities@smhs.org to learn more about volunteering to help organize this event. 

SMCHS Night at the Honda Center

 

It's SMCHS night at the Honda Center on February 28th! The Santa Margarita Varsity and JV Ice Hockey teams are selling tickets to the 7:00pm Anaheim Ducks game against the St. Louis Blues. Tickets are on the Center Terrace and Plaza Levels, and are priced at $35 and $70. Seats are limited with orders due no later than tomorrow, January 31st. Please make checks out to SMCHS.  Questions and orders should be directed to Sharon Duggin. Please come support our teams and watch the Ducks, currently leading the NHL, continue their march to the playoffs!  Tickets are limited so order today! 

Parenting in the Internet Age

  

Mark your calendar for our next evening of Fellowship in Faith on Wednesday, February 12th with our guest speaker, Chris Mueller discussing some of the challenges of parenting in the internet age, where he will give concrete examples of how we as Christian parents can meet those challenges. Come out from 7:30-8:30 (refreshments served at 7:00) in the Eagle Athletic Banquet Center. Click Here for more details. RSVP to Charlene Palmer.

The Arts Alliance

SMCHS Eagle Arts Magazine

 

The Arts Alliance, a parent-led volunteer group dedicated to supporting Santa Margarita's visual and performing arts programs, invites you to check out the new SMCHS Eagle Arts Magazine. The inaugural issue showcases the talent of our exceptional students and faculty. Please share it with those you feel would be interested in learning more about the Arts at SMCHS.

Campus Ministry

Morning Mass

Morning mass is offered Tuesday through Friday from 6:55-7:25am in the Sacred Heart Chapel. All students, faculty, staff and parents are invited to celebrate mass with Father Randy Sampinto. What great habit to start this new year!        

Kairos 116

 

We are taking reservations for March 24-27 K#116. This is the last Kairos for the Class of 2014.  Please do not wait to sign up for these retreats, they fill up fast. Click Here for more Kairos information. If you went on a Kairos this year (K112, K113, K114, or K115) you may wear your Kairos shirt to school on Wednesday, February 4th. Live the Fourth!   

Sophomore Retreat 

 

Our Spring Sophomore Retreat will be February 19-21.  Students leave afterschool on Wednesday and will return on Friday by 3:00pm This is the last sophomore retreat for the year, so don't miss out. We can take 50 sophomores maximum. Click Here for your paperwork.    

Eucharistic Adoration

 

Every Tuesday, we offer Eucharistic Adoration in the Sacred Heart Chapel from 8:30-2:00pm. At 9:00am we pray the rosary, so bring your rosary beads and pray along with us. Please contact Nancy Hormuth in Campus Ministry to be added to the Eucharistic Adoration Group where you will receive additional information.

Financial Assistance and Scholarship Applications for the 2014-15 School Year

 

At Santa Margarita Catholic High School it is our desire that every student have the opportunity to receive a well-rounded Catholic education.  With the rising costs of education, we are committed to helping families provide a Santa Margarita education for their student(s)SMCHS offers awards in the form of financial assistance and scholarships, these are awards that do not have to be repaid. Financial assistance awards are based on financial need. Additionally, privately-funded scholarships are based on financial need, academic excellence, leadership, service, talent and other criteria.

 

Financial Assistance and Scholarship applications for the 2014-15 school year are available from January 27, 2014 through April 18, 2014.For more information and to apply, please Click Here

Scrip

 

Scrip sales are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:30am-9:30am and Wednesday from 1:30pm-3:30pm.  For information regarding the SMCHS scrip program as well as the gift cards we carry and how it can reduce your student's tuition or support his/her sport or club, Click HereScrip makes the perfect gift for Valentine's Day See's candy, restaurants, movies, etc.! If you have any questions or wish to place a large scrip order, contact Catherine Hassen, SM Scrip Coordinator, at 949-766-6004.

Did you know that Orange County Catholic, the official newspaper of the Diocese of Orange, is now weekly and can be delivered directly to your home every Wednesday? To support our Catholic schools, sign up to receive Orange County Catholic. As part of your subscription to Orange County Catholic, you will also receive the Orange County Register every day. Plus, as a new subscriber, you will be able to select the Catholic school of your choice to get a free laptop computer. SMCHS is encouraging new subscribers to donate the laptops to the Marian Alliance, a group of three elementary schools in Santa Ana.
