Alumni Return to SMCHS for Career Day
On Thursday, January 9, SMCHS held its fifth annual Alumni Career Day. Eighteen alumni returned to the SMCHS campus to educate and inspire the Class of 2015. Students started the morning in a one-hour session listening to an alumni speaker who worked in a career they expressed interest in. Following the session, the entire junior class headed to the Moiso Pavilion for the keynote speaker. This year's keynote speaker was Sarah Walker Ollenburger '96, who shared her experiences in working as a hiring manager. Ollenburger enlightened students on how social media can negatively affect their professional career and why it's important to always present yourself in a positive light. Following Sarah's speech, students were given the opportunity to explore the alumni career day college fair. Students spoke with alumni one-on-one to get any of their questions answered, as well as talked with college representatives that were in attendance. The grads in attendance worked in medicine, law, entertainment, sales, marketing, fire safety, fashion, teaching, engineering, video production, financial investing and physical therapy.

Parenting in the Internet Age
The Internet is amazing; Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Tumblr, Instagram and more. Our teens are so connected to social media that they have very little space in their lives to process the information they are taking in. For many parents it seems like there is no way to allow our kids to participate in this new internet driven world, while at the same time raising them to be healthy, whole men and women of God. In this workshop on Wednesday, February 12th at 7:30pm in the Eagle Athletic Center, Chris Mueller, our guest speaker, will go over some of the challenges of parenting in the internet age, and will give concrete examples of how we as Christian parents can meet those challenges. Contact Charlene Palmer to RSVP or questions. Click Here for more information.
