High School Placement Test, Saturday, January 25, 2014, 7:45 am

Exam For Incoming Freshmen (Class of 2018)

HSPT

Students looking to enroll in the Freshman Class of 2018 (current 8th grade students) are asked to take the HSPT (High School Placement Test) on Saturday, January 25, 2014.  The exam begins at 8 am and concludes by 12:30 pm (please arrive at the front of the school off of Antonio Parkway no later than 7:45 am so that the test may begin on time).

In order to sign up for the exam, a student needs to have created a school application (you may begin an online application here) and submit the $50 application fee.  Once a student has applied to Santa Margarita and paid the application fee, he/she will automatically have a seat saved for the HSPT Placement Test.  Applications and the application fee will be accepted on the morning of the exam on January 25th.

On the day of the exam, we ask each student to check in at the front tables. From there, a Santa Margarita Student Ambassador will show each student where their testing classroom will be.  All testing materials will be provided, including a snack, so students do not need to bring anything on the day of the exam.  No calculators are allowed on the test.  If a student has special dietary needs, they may bring a snack with them on the day of the test.

Students that have a diagnosed learning disability and would like to arrange for extended testing time may contact Mary Manese, the Director of our Auxiliary Studies Program.  Mary may be contacted at manesem@smhs.org

The HSPT is made up of 5 multiple choice sections and a written essay. Breaks will be given throughout the exam, including a 30 minute snack break.

SM Students Demonstrate The Giving Spirit of Christmas

Eagle Ice Hockey Team Delivers 97 Christmas Trees to Marine Families

While some students are thinking about the Christmas holiday and the break from school, many Santa Margarita students were taking the time this holiday season to understand that the spirit of Christmas is in the giving, not the receiving.

Students from Santa Margarita's national championship Ice Hockey team donated and delivered nearly 100 Christmas trees to Marine families at Camp Pendleton in December.  The Marine families were able to share some Christmas cheer with these beautiful trees, and our students learned about the joy one gets when giving back to their community.
