Dare to Compare--How do SAT Scores Truly Stack Up
SMCHS Ranks Favorably vs. Orange County Public School Districts

SAT

There is a common misperception that Catholic high school students do not score favorably on the SAT when compared to their local public school counterparts.  Based on the latest data, students at Santa Margarita Catholic High School are not suffering in this comparison but excelling!

The following data shows the average SAT scores from all of the Orange County public school districts from 2012 (the 2013 score results were not available).  Compared to all 16 public school districts, SMCHS ranked 3rd in Orange County (2012 average SAT score of 1685).

Perhaps more importantly, 88% of the senior Class of 2012 at Santa Margarita took the SAT, which far exceeds the highest percentage from the top public school district (Irvine Unified's 63.9%). This coincides with Santa Margarita's college-prep academic philosophy of preparing all of our students for college (source: Report on the Conditions of Children in Orange County, 2013).
