3 SMCHS Students Honored as National Merit Semi-Finalists
| Number of Students Honored is Highest Amongst All Trinity League Schools
Congratulations to Rachel Kim, Austin Drysch, and Ellen Liu for being recognized as National Merit Semi-Finalists. Of the 1.5 million high school juniors taking the PSAT exam nationwide, only 16,000 students are recognized as National Merit Semi-Finalists. The 16,000 students represent the top 1 percent of high school students in the country and are now eligible to compete for $35 million in National Merit scholarships. Santa Margarita once again had more students recognized as National Merit Semi-Finalists than any other Trinity League high school. For more information about these three students, please click here. |

Post-it Note "Vandals" Demonstrate True Value of Caritas Christi
| |
Two Eagle Students Write 2000 Post-it Notes to Share Christ's Love
On the morning of 9-11-13, the Santa Margarita community arrived at school to find yellow Post-it Notes on every student locker on campus. Each hand-written note included messages of love and positive affirmation, but no one knew who blessed the school in such a way.
With the nation honoring the memories of those who were lost on that fateful date 12 years ago, 2 sophomore students dedicated 20 hours to write 2000 separate notes to share messages of love and peace to our students.
Sophomores Emerica Rogers and Bella Montes were discovered as the "culprits" of this amazing feat. Emerica and Bella lived our charism of Caritas Christi, the Love of Christ, with their stellar actions that day and proved that it truly is a "Great Day to be an Eagle!"

SMCHS Earns #32 Ranking Amongst Nation's Finest Private Schools
| Washington Post Ranks SM as Highest Rated Catholic High School in Orange County in their Annual Survey
The Washington Post once again reviewed the top performing public and private high schools in the United States, and once again, Santa Margarita was ranked in the Top 40 private high schools in America as the #32 overall private high school.
Rankings were based on a school's academic performance. The Washington Post looked at AP (Advanced Placement) and IB (International Baccalaureate) testing results to see how high schools were academically challenging their students. With the highest number of students taking AP and IB classes and exams amongst Catholic high schools in Orange County (and with some of the highest passing rates on these tests in the nation), SMCHS has ranked in the Top 40 nationally each of the past 3 years. To learn more about the national rankings and where SMCHS was placed, please click here.
