Welcome to the Eagle Update! This is a supplement to the eWings monthly newsletter that we hope you will find useful. This weekly newsletter is a quick read of short updates for all news across campus that will be published every Thursday, except the week of eWings. |
Summer Classes and Athletic Camps

Santa Margarita Catholic High School is proud to offer summer programs including academic courses, athletic camps for elementary school-aged youth through high school athletes, and enrichment opportunities including a summer theatre conservatory and MUN boot camp for incoming freshmen. Senior Class Book Returns
Book returns for seniors take place from now till Tuesday, May 28th at 3:00pm. Procedures and guidelines for selling back books can be found on the Bookstore webpage, Click Here.

The Great Gatsby prom is tonight May 23rd from 7:00-12:00 midnight. Prom is held at the Disneyland Hotel Grand Ballroom. This year's prom will be a grand affair! All Ticket sales are closed and no tickets will be sold at the door. Please be sure students bring their SMCHS current student ID! This is non-negotiable.

Graduation Practice is May 29th at 10:00am in the Moiso Pavilion. Graduation Practice is mandatory!
Baccalaureate Mass is Thursday, May 30th for all Graduating Seniors and their parents. Each Senior is allotted 2 tickets. Students are to arrive at 4:00pm to line up for the procession into the church. Please wear your graduation gown only. Once again, proper dress is required under the graduation gown. Ladies: dresses, pant suits and dress shoes. Gentlemen: dress slacks, dress shoes, collared shirt and tie required.
Graduation is Friday May 31st at the UCI Bren Events Center. Graduating Seniors are to arrive at the Bren Center at 9:00am to line up for the ceremony. Please do not decorate your cap and be sure to check online or the Parent/Student Handbook for proper dress with cap and gown. Each student has one parking permit. Parking cost for additional family members is $10. Plan to arrive early and expect traffic in and around UCI.
Per UCI Guest and Events Services policy: any alterations, changes or amendments to a permit, regardless of the reason, will result in a parking citation. Altered permit citations will not be reduced, voided or otherwise dismissed. User will be held accountable for any citations and/or fees (upward to $308). All permits should be properly displayed on the Driver's Side Dash.

Grad Night is May 31st . All students attending Grad Night must have their permission forms into Mrs. Bien by May 29th. Bring your permission form to Graduation Practice! You will not be allowed to attend Grad Night without one. Students must be at school at 9:00pm to board the bus. Students may not park overnight at school. Please have a parent drop the student at school at 9:00pm and pick them up on June 1st at 5:45am. Students are not allowed to drive themselves home. Click Here to download the permission form.

Newman Connection
For those seniors moving on to college, there is a program for college students called the Newman Connection. The purpose of the program is to connect you to the Newman Club at the college you will be attending. Newman clubs, which are large Campus Ministry organizations are found on campuses all across the U.S., and they are a great way to continue to be involved with the Faith after leaving SMCHS. Talon Theatre
Mark your calendars! The Talon Theatre Awards Banquet, Thespian Initiation, and Installation of Officers will be Friday, May 24th at 6:00pm. Students and Parents are invited. Click Here to access the Performing Arts website.

Memorial Day Holiday
Don't forget, Friday May 24th and Monday, May 27th are full school holidays in honor of Memorial Day. The SMCHS campus will be closed on both of these days and resume on Tuesday, May 28th for a special schedule day 1. Faculty office hours will be 8:30-8:50am that day.

Safety Fair for Families
Join the Orange County Sheriff's Department on Saturday, May 25th at RSM Central Park for the Safety Fair to help families develop good safety habits that will last a lifetime. Click Here for more information.

Talon Yearbooks will be distributed May 28th outside B112 in the Parking lot. Please tell your students to check outside B112 or the Activities Office to make sure they are listed as paid. If you have not purchased a book, there are still more books available, Click Here. |

San Francisco Solano Annual Rummage Sale
San Francisco Solano will be having their annual Rummage Sale on Saturday, June 8th and Saturday, June 15th from 8:00am-4:00pm each day. Donations will be accepted between Friday, May 17th and Sunday, June 2nd during regular business hours and on the weekends during regular Mass times in front of Meeting Room C. Donations can include clothing, books, toys, sporting goods, housewares, etc. and are tax-deductible. Please support these events by making a donation and shopping the Rummage Sale!

ASB Leadership Conference
The 2013 ASB Leadership Conference will be June 11th-13th. This opportunity is open to all current and incoming enrolled; Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors. Current Seniors interested in being a Leadership Conference Group Leader should email activities@smhs.org. Students who attend this conference will be working with the 2013-2014 ASB Cabinet to brainstorm and program activities and events for the upcoming school year. Cost: $225.00. Fiesta de Solano
Fiesta de Solano will be held this year on Friday, June 28th from 5-10pm, Saturday, June 29th from 12-10pm and Sunday, June 30th from 12-9pm. Please join us for games, rides, live entertainment, food, Bingo and a Boutique. Pre-sales will take place after all Masses beginning June 8th so stop by to purchase your Grand Prize Raffle Tickets and discounted ride tickets. Class of 2008- 5 Year Reunion
The Class of 2008 will be celebrating their 5 Year Reunion on Saturday, June 29th at Dave and Busters in the Irvine Spectrum from 7:00-11:00pm. The event will include dinner, dancing, music and lots of reminiscing! Tickets are $45 now or $50 at the door. For more information, Click Here.

Kairos Summer Retreat Dates
Attention current junior families, class of 2014, if your student would like to attend a summer Kairos retreat, the dates are: K112 July 15-18th and K113 July 29 -August 1st. The retreat forms are available in Campus Ministry or online, Click Here. If you are a senior or graduate and made a Kairos retreat and would like to lead, please fill out a retreat form as well as the Kairos Leader application.

Any senior in the Class of 2013 who attended the following Kairos retreats (K 106, K107, K108, K108, K109, K110,or K111) is invited to attend the Kairos Alumni 4th night at 5:30pm on Tuesday, May 28th. Permission forms for this off-campus event are available in the Campus Ministry Office or by emailing Francis Cabildo. Dinner is provided along with mass and music. A donation of $5.00 per person is requested. T-shirts will be available for purchase at the event. Get your Kairos small group together one more time before you head off to college!

Every Tuesday, we offer Eucharistic Adoration in the Sacred Heart Chapel from 8:00-2:00pm. If you would like to spend some quiet time with our Lord in prayer, stop by on Tuesdays. You can also contact Nancy Hormuth in Campus Ministry to be added to the Eucharistic Adoration Group where you will receive additional information. |

Scrip
Simply by using the Scrip Program, SMCHS benefits and so do you. Volunteers are here to sell scrip Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:30am - 9:30am and Wednesday from 1:30pm - 3:30pm. You may drop off your order at any time and our volunteer will contact you when it is ready for pick up. We will share the discount percentage 50/50 with you which can lower your student's school tuition or be donated to a school program. Click Here for more information. |

Please call your absent student in by 9:30am the same day he/she is out. If there is no call from you, your student needs a hand written parent note for their readmit. When we have a high rate of absences, the line for readmits is extra long and having the correct records will make the line go faster. The students need to be in their classroom seat 1st block by the second bell or a detention is issued by our office. To contact the Attendance office, call (949) 766-6020.
