One of the presumptive candidates for the office of President of the United States says that if elected they will bring jobs back to the US that have been shipped abroad.
Whether they win the election or can, if winning, deliver on this promise has to be proven.
However, you should not be waiting to see the outcome, for this has been seen to be enough of a hot-button issue that it is likely to affect the attitude and decisions of the major manufacturers no matter who wins the election. This could mean more jobs for your town.
What can you do to get ready? Start a campaign themed something like this--"Bringing jobs to America." Build a set of arguments based on why it makes sense to either (a) expand in your locale as opposed to exporting jobs or (b) bring returning jobs to your locale instead of somewhere else.
For instance, people naturally assume that if furniture jobs come back, they will come back to central North Carolina. If you are in Minot, you just might like to have those furniture jobs in your town. Make the case, not only for bringing them back but bringing them back to you. Then go to the furniture shows, get a booth, and make your pitch.
There are many industries where this idea can be applied.
Just do it.
