What is your "green" story?

Proudly wearing the moniker, climate change skeptic, I nevertheless understand the marketing needs of modern businesses.  Being green in manufacturing is becoming the standard, not the exception. Consumers are asking for "green" products.
 
For many manufacturers, this entails a discussion of their energy needs.  You need to be ready to respond when prospects come calling.
 
For instance, I know of one older facility in danger of closing due to a lack of a sufficient quantity of natural gas near their site.  It is an older facility with a coal boiler, and its continued operation is in jeopardy.  The city it is in has natural gas and has had it for decades.  However, a line of sufficient volume and pressure to serve the mill is at least five miles away.  At over $1 million per mile installed cost, that may be just too much to keep this facility in operation.
 
It remains to be seen what the city officials can do to help this matter, but if they don't do something, it may mean another closure.
 
So, on your new sites, make sure you have modern day utilities: gas, fiber optic cable, and green electricity available in abundance.  It just may mean the difference in a win or loss for your community.
