An Inducement that may work for you
As manufacturing becomes more and more automated, one component stands out, and it is a high-skill, high-labor content component: maintenance.
Skilled maintenance work means good jobs for your community, too.
As you think about inducements to attract new industry, don't forget this labor component. Perhaps you can form partnerships with local skilled maintenance and contracting companies. Perhaps you can induce them to come to your community if they are not already there.
Companies that rent specialized equipment, companies that service fork trucks, companies that provide IT services (particularly the physical on-site types for internal network build-out and maintenance) are important partners for any major industry you are striving to attract.
There are some other suppliers that may be able to help you with ideas in this area as well. We are not endorsing anyone, nor have we been paid to suggest these names, but some that come to mind in no particular order are Fastenal, Grainger, Motion Industries and Ferguson. These companies (and perhaps others) have done an excellent job of locating their facilities within easy service distance of major industries.
