We have talked here before about attracting business with similar interests, but not quite in the way described below.
Industrial Parks that are designed and solicit participation from certain business segments have been a huge success. A couple of areas come to mind.
Famously, Research Triangle Park in North Carolina, strategically located between Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill is probably one of the most successful east coast examples of this genre. Since its inception, it has attracted high-paying employers seeking specialized skills. Consequently, the economy in this area seems almost never to experience a downturn of any significance.
I am also familiar with a smaller venue that works well, too. Located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Doctors Park has attracted a cadre of physicians and specialists. Uniquely located in an area that is fairly rural in almost any direction for at least fifty to seventy-five miles, Doctors Park draws those needing specialized medical care of nearly any type.
What can you do in your area along these lines? We have mentioned service centers for industrial clients before. Gathering a group of these in one location will provide high paying jobs and stable employment for your area.
