We have touched on this subject briefly before.  However, this is Maintenance Month here at Paperitalo Publications, and so I thought I would bring it up again.

Around the country, various industries require specialized service centers to work on their unique equipment.  Often these are small facilities that fit easily within an existing industrial park footprint.  The good news is that their staffs, usually between 50 and 100 employees, are high tech and high paid people.  The utility demands of these centers are not great, either.  

So, on an attractiveness rating for your community, these should rank fairly high.

How do you attract them?  Talk to any heavy industry within one hundred miles of your location.  Ask them if they require any specialized service centers to keep them running.  Ask for names and do your homework.  It just may be that you can attract one or more of these specialized business to your town.
