Dear Parents,

At a presentation last summer, a speaker asked "What educators come to mind as the best in history?"  No one commented.  The speaker then asked "What teachers come to mind as the best in history?"  The names spontaneously surfaced from many ages, countries, and cultures.  The point was well made; the word educator references  the professional aspect of school.  Yet the word teacher touches on the humanity of extraordinary people who form, lead, model, inspire, enlighten, encourage, train, and inform.  

Nationally, this week is "Teacher Appreciation Week".  I encourage every student and parent to find a way to thank our good teachers during the month of May.  Our teachers are at the heart of our Catholic mission at St. Francis Xavier School.

Mark your calendar: All 5th - 8th graders will spend Friday, May 6th at JCCHS for Field Day.
FIELD DAY SHIRTS ARE BEING SENT HOME TODAY
Students in grades 5,6,7,8 will participate in the 2016 Track and Field Day at John Carroll Catholic High School on Friday.

Field Day T shirt fee of $6 was invoiced through your FACTS account. Please go online and click and pay if you have not already done so.

Bring water
Lunch or money for concession
Sunblock, hat or umbrella for protection from heat
If a student will be checking out early from field day after their event parent/student must check out with your homeroom teacher. Students are to be picked up at John Carroll at the conclusion of the event. 

* Reminder you may want to arrive early to avoid high school dismissal.
